My (growing) list of pet peeves for 2025:

To be continued...
In today's zeitgeist of tribalism and binary political thinking, this may be an unpopular opinion:
Two opposing views can both contain truth.
Personal responsibility matters. So do systemic forces.
Acknowledging one doesn't invalidate the other.
Nuance isn't weakness. It's intellectual honesty.

They sent me a clear message when they ended their free bag policy. Now I'm sending a clear message back. Silence is golden.
Southwest has ruined what used to make Southwest a great option.

Yes. But please, don't forget the "and investing" part.
Better than selling out to PE I guess, but I still don't like it.

Yea I noticed. Stopped eating there around that time. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.
I have no love for Comey (and less and less for Trump as time passes), but for the sake of defending the principle of free speech this case should be kicked.
For our fundamental rights we MUST err on the side of charity in cases like these. Perhaps Comey actually did intend his "86 47" display as an actual threat of violence and physical harm. But there is no way to prove that, and prosecuting a case like this would have a chilling effect on political speech regardless of the outcome.

For $200+ per year you really need to be able to keep tasks from my CRM and existing task manager (TickTick) in sync.

I think one of the best things about Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire is that now the Bernie Sanders of the world can shift the narrative and talk about raising taxes on "billionaires and trillionaires" instead of talking about raising taxes on "millionaires and billionaires."
I think there are an awful lot of millionaires that feel the same way.
MMTers: It's not a problem at all. We'll just print more money!
Or something.
🇺🇸 Here's what $39 trillion in debt really means:
If we confiscated every dollar of U.S. corporate profit ($3.8T/year), it would take over 10 years to pay off.
Sell every ounce of gold ever mined: $32 trillion. Still $7 trillion short.
Liquidate every Bitcoin in existence on top of that: $33.5 trillion. Still $5.5 trillion short.
If we confiscated every dollar of federal tax revenue ($5.3T/year), it would take over 7 years to pay off, assuming zero spending.
The debt is 71% of every home in America, or 30% of every publicly traded company on Earth.
The debt grows by $7.2 billion a day, or $84,000 a second.
This is a problem.
Saw this coming a decade ago. Was only a matter of time.

So I can bring my phone, an iPad, my Kindle, and a laptop-all of which have rechargeable lithium batteries, but I can't bring my phone and two battery packs? 🤔
