Hoping this makes someone feel better because AI stuff is cool but gets fatiguing to see
I think game dev social media/ai tech bros on twitter really paint a grim picture about the landscape with all these “look at my one shot opus 5.5 game!!” posts
And I think a lot of passionate creative people in the game dev community get discouraged and heart broken about this
But ultimately those who do really well and stand out in game dev are going to be the ones who iterate on ideas for months and build actual crazy tooling and workflows with the help of ai, and constantly learn a bunch of new skills adjacent to game design and agentic engineering now.
AI never changed that requirement of hard work iteration, development cooperation, and learned skills, despite what these one shot sloppers would have you believe.
The skills required now are just shifting , and it doesn’t mean your old skills as a coder artist or designer aren’t valid , they’re just a nice head start and advantage for you into learning what everyone will be required to learn in the coming months and years

Someone said being neurodivergent means that no one listens to you because you're right too far in advance and then, when it's finally come to fruition, the common law statute of limitations for remembering what someone else said a while ago has been surpassed so we don't even get to be told we were right. it's deeply unsatisfying

i feel like this is going to just force everyone to use discord to communicate now, and discord is where all the grooming and safety issues actually happen. But i guess roblox isnt responsible at that point so its ideal for them

After evaluating multiple offers, we’ve reached an agreement to return Hytale to @simon_hypixel, giving this community its best shot at experiencing a revised version of the game. Wishing the team the best of luck for what’s ahead.
Huge thanks to Riot for working with me to make this happen. They wanted what’s best for players, and that’s for us to eventually play the game.
This game has always been close to my heart, and I’m excited to bring it back home.
Real talk: Hytale isn’t some polished AAA release waiting in the wings. It’s messy. It’s janky. And there’s a lot of work to be done.
My plan? Get it out to you as soon as possible. No more waiting. You’ll get to play it, rough edges and all.
It won’t be perfect on day one. My hope is that together, we’ll shape it into something truly special.
