Hansen said that 25% spoke a foreign language at home and suggested this was largely Arabic and Mandarin. Jane Norman ABC News repeated this without question. This is appalling from the National Broadcaster. The truth is that around 4% of people speak Arabic or Mandarin at home.

Not sure about the decision to kick the Hawks out of Tassie - I reckon the tradition that had been established over 20+ years is worth keeping. We’re big enough to develop our support of the Devils and still have the Hawks play a handful of matches in Lonnie each season.

You can express indignation about the inappropriate use of public money without falling back on the insidious "taxpayer's money" trope. If anything, it makes an even stronger case, because IT IS public money, and the only legitimate purpose of public money is the public purpose.
