Hi, I’d like to briefly talk about a teeny tiny, great detail in The Last Jedi. Please indulge me for this pretty nerdy thread:
We all know this moment from the movie. BUT have you ever noticed the extremely subtle visual effect? Go ahead and see if you can find it. [1/9]

NEW from me: CO2 emissions in China have now been flat or falling for 18 months, the first time that energy demand growth at or above historical averages doesn't drive emissions up, thanks to the clean energy boom. 🧵👇

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

I guess "energy abundance" means cancelling one of the largest energy projects in the US during a period of significant load growth.
I'm sure Republicans will assume responsibility for energy price increases in Nevada and nearby states in the years to come.
This just in: The Esmeralda 7 Solar Project — which would have generated a gargantuan 6.2 gigawatts of power — has been canceled, the BLM says.

Great rundown – I wrote about how little hope I have for data center SMRs earlier this year:
itpro.com/infrastructure/dat…
The US is making a $9B bet on small modular reactors (SMRs) to power AI data centers and cut emissions. Will the economics work?
Highlights:
- $6B+ US govt support since 2019, $3B+ private capital
- Past SMR efforts: delays + big overruns (NuScale canceled after +120% costs; operating SMRs abroad ran 3–4x over budget)
- Cost gap: independents peg ~$182/MWh by 2030 vs. ~$133/MWh for big nuclear, ~$126/MWh gas; wind/solar+storage ~1/3 cheaper than SMRs
- Fuel pinch: many SMRs need HALEU; supply dominated by Russia; limited US capacity
- Momentum: 32+ GW in deals since 2023 (many nonbinding)
