Wow Kansas catching a stray here. I do think it is true that Kansas has more hospitals (currently 126) per population (3M) than any other state.
It’s 2075. There is only one hospital in the entire country. It is 8 square miles in the middle of Kansas and owned by United Healthcare. Premiums are $47,000 per month. The only medications left are Ozempic and boner pills. Life expectancy is 38. Government: “I can’t believe doctors did this to us.”

I’ve seen this map several times in the past few days, and I admit it is hard to believe that it is real. People are living longer and with more complicated illness. Hard to say if rising employment in healthcare is sustainable or even good. It is what it is.

Getting really specific with my medical practice, this feels like a family medicine clinic day where I end up spending a lot of my time in the “things I do” section returning faxes, doing prior authorization requests, filling out return to work forms etc.
I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.

If only physicians were on a level playing field…I feel like I’m always walking uphill.

32/ The math's a little complicated, so we asked the actuaries at Milliman what would happen if ACOs could improve RA by 1% in 2025 (scenario 1) Over 5 years, MSSP payouts would go up by $2B (10%) MA expenditures would decrease by $11B (0.2%) Maybe ACOs should have more tools!

Can this really be true? 1% of all federal expenditures are on dialysis?!?
TIL - 0.8% of the US budget is spent on Kidney dialysis

That’s crazy! Recent history shows it’s hard to lose if you are playing the game.

I support site neutral payments, too.
An unusual group of ideological allies — Obama HHS secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Trump HHS secretary Alex Azar, Paragon’s @brian_blase, Brookings’ @LorenAdler, etc — all agree: Medicare should start paying the same rate for the same service.
