As our @RACGP NSW/ACT Chair @runningdoc14 told @LanieT96 - the ‘Sick Tax’ will force many practices to charge patients more or shut up shop. The ACT Government must act on payroll tax on tenant GPs and make this a priority. #SickTax canberratimes.com.au/story/8…

The @RACGP backs rigorous systems to stop overbilling. However, this problem is not universal. The vast bulk of GPs do the right thing and the $8b figure remains unproven. In fact, 47% of surveyed GPs avoided claiming services due to compliance fears.

The Govt’s proposal for a new in-home aged care program does not include GPs. The @RACGP believes this is a missed opportunity to support better integrated GP-led care for older people. We are key to improving the health and wellbeing of these patients and must be front of mind.

Australia needs more GPs.
We face a shortage of 11,000 GPs by 2030 is nothing is done. We need to train more GPs while it's time to lift the Medicare rebate. Many people have to choose between seeing a GP or putting food on the table. This is a choice they shouldn't have to make

During Women's Health Week, the @RACGP is urging women to get back on track with health checks and, in particular, ask their GP about self-collection for cervical cancer screening. Women continue to put health checks on the back burner and this must change. #WomensHealthWeek
