PSA.. it's not a good idea for long term health to use displays that utilise PWM/have flickering backlights.
Since March, I have been using a Samsung 42" TV (Q60R) as my main display for work, gaming, everything really. It uses PWM (so it's not flicker free). (1/8)

I know I sound old, but I wish Gen Z had experienced forums. Instead of endless hate-posting, they were full of fun debates about season finales, canon insights and shared perspectives. They wre basically Fan Clubs built on appreciation, instead of engagement farming. If modern Twitter is a hater-fest, forums were a fun sanctuary.

ok this has to stop
software development in 2026 is going to require some to loosen up a little
code doesn't have to be as perfectly crafted the way we did it pre-ai
call it slop if you want, but if you're still demanding perfection on every pr while your competitors are shipping "slop" that works... you're fighting from a disadvantaged position
shipping velocity matters more than perfection

The Uttar Pradesh government has cancelled the Christmas holiday in schools and mandated Vajpayee centenary programmes on December 25, drawing criticism for marginalising Christians and undermining secular education.

So the Pao is another one of those foods that we took from others and made ours. The Portuguese loved crusted bread but did not have yeast in India. Local goans figured they could use toddy to recreate the rise and the Poi was born.
As Goans moved to the city on Bombay, they brought their beloved poi here and the burgeoning textile mills town went crazy with the high carb ingredient that kept well and did not need cooking. It is here that Bombay picked up Goan term Pao from these folks and the slightly derogatory slang "maka-pao" became attached to goan folks. Because everyone gets hazed in this city.
And look what we have done with this simple bread. Pav Bhaji is an exceptional culinary innovation and a moment of respect for Ashok Vaidya who married the bata vada to the pao creating the vada pav.
Replying to @ku1deep
Oh like how Bombay took the portuguese style bread called pao and used it universally for every street food here.

Microsoft has set a goal to “eliminate every line of C and C++ from Microsoft by 2030.”
What are they going to try to replace that C & C++ code with?
You guessed it. Rust.
And they’re going to use AI to do the “Rust re-write” at an insane speed.
“Our strategy is to combine AI *and* Algorithms to rewrite Microsoft’s largest codebases. Our North Star is “1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code”.
You read that right.
One million lines of code, per engineer, per month.
Pure insanity. This kind of decision making is common among those with a deeply held, delusional faith in the Cult of Rust.
Take battle tested code, and re-write it (without a clear benefit to the end user) at a recklessly rapid rate. Then force others to adopt that rewritten code before it is ready or properly tested.
All while holding a delusional belief that your new Rust code is superior in all ways, and is inherently bug free thanks to the divine nature of Rust.
We learned this from a post by Galen Hunt, Distinguished Engineer at Microsoft Research.

It's about time we citizens annoy our municipalities into doing their job
I'm coming for you, @mybmcWardRN corporator
Congratulations.
I had been struggling with the government machinery for almost a year over this speed breaker. A frustrated municipality finally installed the speed breaker early this morning and immediately informed me. They must have thought, 'At last, we’re free of him.' 😂
This is how work gets done in India.

The repeal of India's "Right to Work" program (the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) which was the world's largest ever anti-poverty program, is just the most recent example of what I called "retrenchment populism" in my 2020 article "The Age of Reaction."

it's a file tree, you are showing dozens of files at a time, wtf do you mean you need to preload...
what the fuck is happening in windows land
Microsoft admits File Explorer is slow in Windows 11, and it’s going to preload it in the background to help improve launch performance.
“This shouldn’t be visible to you, outside of File Explorer hopefully launching faster when you need to use it,” Microsoft confirmed.
If you don’t want Windows 11 to preload File Explorer, you can uncheck the option called “Enable window preloading for faster launch times” in File Explorer’s Folder Options under View.
File Explorer is still snappy on Windows 10, but the modernized Windows 11 version also brought slower performance.
This change is rolling out to Windows Insiders.
