Government can’t & won’t fix the NHS without simultaneously fixing social care. Pushing it back 3 years will be 3 more years of more hospital crisis & a perpetual winter. We need bold action now to reset the system. Many providers will close because of NI hike making things worse
Hospitals can't cope with influx of new admissions when they can't discharge patients who are ready to go. Without adequate social care in place operations get cancelled and people wait for hours in A&E.
Why is this so difficult for governments to grasp?

23/ Public satisfaction with NHS is ALSO a #politicalchoice- we *NEED* a government that values the NHS.
And that @VictoriaAtkins @wesstreeting requires government to restore pay if you want to fix waiting lists (& A&E waits & cancer treatments waits) you need to #FixPay.

16/ Or maybe someone from the @bankofengland pipe up and tell us inflation "hurt" us all, and we STILL need to show "restraint" to keep our inflation targets
I think the public sector, and the NHS has been "restrained" a little too tightly, dont you?👇& P/S pay ISNT inflationary

The NHS is completely BROKEN😢
WASNT broken by COVID/Strikes/inflation (*delete excuse)
but by deliberate CHOICES to break it
RT if you want this/next government to make CHOICES to properly fund the NHS, #reward staff & provide better healthcare than 👇 for the UK population

Why is the NHS so bad at spending money on long terms things like good IT, better equipment and buildings?
One popular explanation is that the problem is a stingy treasury that won't give the NHS the money for capital...

4/ The disgraceful waiting lists that have built up are entirely a political choice. Pay erosion for all doctors is far higher than other groups in the NHS (such as nurses who also need #payrestoration)

Living standards are forecast to be 3½ per cent lower in 2024-25 than pre-pandemic.
This would be the largest reduction in living standards since records began in the 1950s, but only half the fall we expected in March.

Wow! Who knew that staggeringly large waiting lists were not caused by covid/doctors strikes but rather a "decade of underinvestment in the NHS, chronic staff shortages & neglect of social care have undermined efforts to tackle it"👇
Answer: Most voters in next general election
Our new analysis of the NHS waiting list shows that, on current trends, it could peak at 8m by summer 2024.

23/ Our NHS is in a DIRE state. None of this is due to striking NHS workers, or (just) covid, but due to political choices @10DowningStreet
