rate limiting should be non-negotiable and already applied in every (serious) financial product/system being able to pull billions of dollars due to one compromised laptop is simply crazy and can not be justified anyhow
While hot wallets provide decent limits on hack damage, I think exchanges would be better served by also implementing smart-contract-level rate limits to protect against operator key compromise. The danger lies in allowing massive fund movements as part of regular operations. If there is a genuine large withdrawal, exchanges can put overrides and special checks in place. DeFi is a good example of where rate limits help to reduce the attack surface.

We’re aware of reports of a potential incident affecting Binance-affiliated wallets. Aave’s contracts are unaffected, and positions remain overcollateralized. As a precaution, all DAO-operated markets across V3 and V4 have been frozen. The freeze pauses new deposits and borrows, and users can still withdraw and repay their existing positions.

Sometimes I think about all the times someone said something important and it wasn’t given enough thought (It’s also possible everyone involved still thinks 7702 was a good choice overall)
my guy @0xjustadev warned of this exact situation when EIP-7702 was discussed two years ago

📢Important update on Aave: The LTV values for all assets across V3 and V4 markets on Ethereum mainnet and V3 markets on Base have been set to 0%. No new borrowings can be done as of this moment. This has been done in response to the massive Binance exploit. We're monitoring the situation and are available for any user questions, be it here, in our Discord server, or our in-app support chat.

And another one including Spark
Which RWA tokens actually capture their business? The infographic shows how big the business is vs how much of its revenue reaches the token. - @sparkfinance leads: 84.6% of revenue goes back to SPK holders. - @usualmoney 40.5%, Sky 31.4% and Maple 30% also share real revenue. - @Collector_Crypt makes $167M a year and holders get 0.5%. - @Ondo earns $83M a year in fees and holders get nothing. - @ethena and @worldlibertyfi have voted on buybacks, but neither is live yet. - @centrifuge, @humafinance, @plumenetwork, @falconfinance and @OpenEden_X send about 0% to holders. Most RWA tokens are still bets on the business, not claims on it. The projects fixing this so far are mostly stablecoin and lending protocols, not the companies tokenizing stocks and funds. Been talking with staking and oracle teams about designing for censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security, and what’s stopping them. Along the way, teams kept pointing at EIPs and L1 limits, so I wrote it up as app-layer feedback: ethereum-magicians.org/t/app…

PSA for macOS users: 1. Apple’s supplied SSL certificate bundle at /etc/ssl/cert.pem still trusts certificates attackers can forge using compromised eMudhra keys. 2. I confirmed this on macOS 26.7.1 and 27.0.1 using Apple’s built-in curl and Git. 3. An attacker intercepting connections from tools using this bundle could replace downloads with malware. With commands like curl … | sh, that malware would execute immediately. 4. Removing the roots that authorize those certificates blocks the tested chains. Both OS updates restored roots I’d previously removed, requiring me to remove them again. 4. I’ve submitted the findings to Apple’s security team and am awaiting their response. In the meantime, you can apply a temporary fix as outlined below. 5. To check and fix your machine, give an agent like ChatGPT/Codex or Claude Code the following prompt: “Independently verify whether Apple’s /etc/ssl/cert.pem still permits trust in certificates signed with compromised eMudhra keys. If so, back it up and remove the roots enabling that trust, identified by verified SPKI fingerprints. Confirm Apple’s built-in curl and Git reject those chains while ordinary HTTPS still works. Preserve rollback and never disable TLS verification.” Note that removing these roots can also block legitimate sites. This is a temporary mitigation, not a substitute for a fix from Apple. I’ll share the script I used in a follow-up post if you’d prefer to use that directly.
PSA for Codex CLI users: 1. Codex 0.163.0’s release lockfile pins rustls-webpki 0.103.15 and root bundles that can still trust compromised eMudhra certificates. 2. An attacker intercepting your connection could impersonate a server, steal sensitive data, or alter responses, potentially tricking Codex into running malicious commands. 3. Codex 0.164.0, released October 23 at 12:48 a.m. ET, updates those dependencies to fixed versions. 4. To check your codex version run "codex --version". It should be at least 0.164.0. 5. To patch the vulnerability, run "codex update". 6. Apps that bundle their own Codex copy must also be checked.

Can aging be reset? Alex Colville: “You can accumulate a lot of age in your body, but when you reproduce, that age is not passed on to your offspring. Otherwise, your offspring would live a lot shorter with each generation. And so nature has discovered some sort of technique to either rejuvenate cells entirely or select cells that are somehow protected from age in that process.”
A conversation with Dr. Alex Colville (@AlexJColville), co-founder and GP of Age1, the first longevity fund. He studied the biology of aging for his PhD in Genetics at Stanford and has deployed more than $100M into longevity and biotech. We discuss how Anthropic & OpenAi are suddenly buying biotech startups and racing to solve Ai drug discovery. And why tech billionaires + crypto founders are both allocating significant capital to this sector.
