Writer educator colleague friend neighbor son brother uncle. More than this, more than words. Lovely human brilliant person generous soul. How much he carries, how much he gives. How much we don't see or know. Thinking of @Majdomar__. And his family too.

Dekhta hoon. But now that I am old and less stupid, I straight-up answer yes or no. This has caused some friction but it is convenient for selfish me.

This week in medicine
1. Lilly's triple agonist, retatrutide, beats semaglutide in a head-to-head trial in type 2 diabetes.
2. The world's first factor XIa inhibitor is approved, in China. Bayer's oral asundexian reduces the risk of ischaemic stroke -- without an increase in overall bleeding -- as secondary prevention.
3. Japan performs its first post-approval transplant of Sumitomo's iPSC-derived dopamine neuron precursors, for Parkinson's disease.
4. Merck/Moderna's personalized mRNA cancer vaccine gets the first positive phase 3 data for an individualized neoantigen therapy, in melanoma.
5. The first clinical data for circular RNA therapy -- RiboX deliver an RNA encoding aquaporin 1 directly to damaged salivary glands, increasing saliva production.
6. A single dose of AtaiBeckley's psychedelic, intranasal mebufotenin (5-MeO-DMT), reduces symptoms of depression in a phase 2b trial.
7. Roche's next-gen KRAS G12C inhibitor, divarasib, beats existing KRAS inhibitors in a head-to-head lung cancer trial.
8. Genmab's EGFR×LGR5 bispecific, petosemtamab, halves the risk of death alongside pembrolizumab in first-line recurrent/metastatic head and neck cancer, in a phase 3 trial.
9. FDA approves the first plasmid DNA-based immunotherapy. Inovio's Voceryq, encoding HPV-6/11 antigens and IL12, reduces the need for repeated surgery in respiratory papillomatosis.
10. Amgen's DLL3×CD3 T cell engager, tarlatamab, extends overall survival as first-line maintenance therapy in a phase 3 trial in extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (combined with a PDL1 inhibitor).
You’re on a planet where octopuses have three hearts, trees communicate through fungal networks, birds migrate across continents, coral reefs teem with life, and tiny bees help feed the world. Don’t forget to stop and appreciate how beautiful the Earth is.

Islam is, before anything, a preparation for the meeting with God. This must take precedence over any civilisational objectives. I shall go as far as to even say that it is losing sight of this very reality that makes any attempts of reconstruction and redefinition a failure

It’s actually worse to have extreme AI hype in a few ways:
1.) Irresponsible to patients to give them false hope.
2.). Billions of dollars gets allocated to dumb things*
3.). Translational drug candidates that work in animal studies don’t even get considered for investor funding b/c they don’t have an “enough AI.”
Is the goal to make drugs or “cures” or to use AI? Currently a lot of the hype is just to use AI with the assumption, but not much evidence it actually leads to more drugs that work and are safe in humans.
I’m pro-AI and use AI all the time. I have accelerated my R&D immensely.
* which will not meaningfully increase # of drugs or “cures” in the near-term or maybe ever.
Replying to @SynBio1
it's alright. We need to adopt with reality to advance faster and accurate therapeutic target discovery and patient care with everyone , anyone willing to help in positive way.

I am a cross-cultural person but I have never seen any culture where people have such a BROAD array of passions as in the West and White people in particular.
Like there are reddit communities dedicated to specific houseplants.
The Muslim world was like that in its golden age

insane alpha to be a bio person going into tech bro, dude i swear we can just generate all of this biological data in autonomous wet labs with de novo systems based on the latest multi omics large scale benchmark and sell it to model providers and then solve cancer with novel targets via AI in drug discovery then build guardrails for mirror life because of ai scientist who's gonna live forever thanks to longevity, and actually, have you heard of agentic biology bro? insane sigma in being a tech bro who can solve biology through our meta-benchmarked proprietary bio model and also we're into biosecurity but we don't know what it means yet, and it doesn't matter because we benchmarked it bro

The world’s always been like this. The New Atheist movement intended to cull the “group in the middle,” given that both the elites and the lowest stratum have always been inclined towards religion or cultism—for good or evil. That momentary illusion faded as the world is once again headed towards an ideological distinction with Islam as the counter-culture, as the technocratic elite defines the culture with Trump’s cult of personality. “Glad tidings for the strangers.”
If it is this serious why americans are not on roads protesting and doing anything they are capable of to throw this garbage system of theirs..why innocent pay the price of evil pedo shayateen s genocidal mania
Parenting now means we have to raise our kids right in the face of porn addiction, drugs, street life, radicalization from red pill and feminism, doom scrolling, getting married all while practicing Islam, being mentally/physically healthy, educated and financially independent.
