From an #embodied POV first-person subjectivity is THE best way to understand how another person metabolizes & engages their experience.
Their words and embodied actions display a (preferred) pathway of experiencing phenomenological moments as they unfold.
An unconscious pattern is
✅ a fast moving PHYSICAL action that embeds with narrative (often self-defining) that is essentially animalistic & mammalian
❌ a secret, dirty relational motive we cAnNoT sEe like “I want to kill Daddy to merge with Mommy”

If you define “unconscious patterns” as I do, as physical actions that embed narrative and relationality, figure-ground work is essential. Fast-moving actions like aggression, resistance, and withdrawal can operate outside awareness while embodying implicit relational histories, expectations, and narratives. Differentiating THE MOMENT of unconscious enactment is literally “making the unconscious conscious.”
I agree that Gestalt does not generally orient toward “unconscious patterns” as speculative interpretations of hidden wishes and conflicts, as in some traditional psychoanalytic approaches.
Get ready for the #Gestalt resurgence, friends

Gestalt therapy is very obscure and hard to explain what it’s actually about, and I say that as someone who lectures medical students on psychotherapy. Oddly enough, it’s quite popular in my country (Czechia), and I have a colleague who’s trained in it.
Gestalt > psychoanalysis for this reason👇🏼

The #Gestalt distinction is important: the client is the expert in their lived experience, while the therapist is expert in facilitating awareness, inquiry, and the therapeutic process.
The client need not fully understand their experience to have primary authority over it. Unconscious processes are precisely what therapist and client explore collaboratively, not grounds for privileging the therapist’s interpretation.
Gestalt therapy challenged this presumption in classical psychoanalysis roughly 75 years ago: that the analyst’s theoretical expertise entitled them to superior authority over the patient’s subjective experience.
Confusing interpretive expertise with experiential authority is a profound clinical arrogance, IMO.

People who make proclamations about life, things or other people need to do this right now … stop proclaiming … put down their phone … and take their own advice.
Stop proclaiming things, people!

New essay! Everyone agrees scientists can’t be objective. Activist-scientists say honesty means leaning in: declare your biases and argue them out like a courtroom. But courtrooms need a defense to show up and a neutral referee. Social psych has neither.

Autistic youth show heightened emotional responsiveness to others' strong affect, suggesting prosocial motivation is not absent but rather that empathy-related processes are interrupted by emotion dysregulation.

Good stuff from @Orgone1
“The Reichian vision of life is that *everything living pulsates* from the cells upward, through individual organs, the rhythm and pulse of the heart and lungs, through to individuals and their moods. This understanding gives us a new lens that connects lots of disparate phenomena - our bodies do lots of different things that can be understood as pulsation - crying, laughter, birth, and infamously to Reich, orgasm. All are phenomena which have a pulsatory aspect.”

Two scientific claims that are projections of the claimants:
❌ “Machines are conscious”
❌ “Emotions are cognitive predictions”
Those advancing these claims reveal more about how THEY experience and conceptualize reality than about the nature of consciousness or emotion itself
