A Russian drone developer is describing a future in which Moscow can threaten European capitals with drone salvos on a scale their air defences were never built to handle. His example is Paris: 10,000 Geran-8 drones aimed at the city and its surrounding area. THE SCALE Sergey T., who writes as “UAV Developer”, contrasts that scenario with earlier discussion of a 1,000-missile salvo against targets in Europe. He argues that 10,000 drones aimed at Paris alone could soon cease to sound extraordinary. Other capitals would face the same threat. Counting them after launch is not enough. Most European countries have limited air-defence coverage for a threat on that scale. PRODUCTION AFTER THE WAR His argument does not depend on Russia remaining at war in Ukraine. He says that even if the war ends, assembly capacity for Geran, Dan-T and Filin drones will remain. Moscow could keep improving heavy long-range strike drones and building up stocks in peacetime. He calls drones such as the Iranian Shahed and Russian Geran a new weapon of deterrence. Strip away that tidy phrase and the proposition is uglier. Preserve the production lines, accumulate the drones, then hold civilian life across Europe at risk. THE TARGET LIST Sergey T. explicitly names shopping malls, substations and other vital systems in EU and NATO countries. He envisages attacks capable of depriving people of water, electricity and internet access, while hitting data centres and other infrastructure on which modern cities depend. He places that damage before any nuclear phase of a conflict. Ukraine already knows what Russian drone strikes against power systems and civilian facilities mean in practice. The developer’s proposal is to turn that method into a continent-wide threat, backed by a peacetime industrial stockpile. Calling it “deterrence” does not change what he is proposing to target.
