when i start a new book, i try to write a short letter to myself on the inside cover. just the date, what’s going on in the world, where i am and how I’m feeling. i don’t journal regularly so this has been my greatest archive and literary gift

Hi! Please stop using “womxn” to be “inclusive” of trans women. It makes us feel unwelcome, by implying we’re not “women” and you need to make up a new word to include us and cis women.
There’s a perfectly good word that includes trans and cis women. It’s just “women.” Thanks.

My HARSH WRITING ADVICE is this: Write a fast and terrible first draft, then put it down and walk away. Next time you read it, you'll see that all the baloney has risen to the top so you can scoop it off and replace it. Everything worth reading is done in the re-write. The end.
