This is John. He was my Uber driver on the way to the airport yesterday. He asked me why I was traveling, and I said it was for work. Then he asked me if I was around 28 years old. I said 27. John then told me that his daughter had died suddenly at the age of 29. He had tried to save her, but he found her too late. He also confided in me that he was holding his son in his arms when his own father died. "I wish I could have done more. Why couldn't I bring her back?" he said, his voice breaking with pain. Then he added: "I'm sorry to bring all this up. I've never met anyone so kind and understanding. You made me feel like I finally had someone to talk to." He gently patted my arm and said, "Please don't let the world change you. Keep smiling, keep being kind. You've shown me how much kindness a stranger can offer. You never know what someone is going through, especially behind a smile. Thank you, my dear. Be kind to others. Always. Show compassion, listen to people, ask how their day is going, smile at strangers, say hello in stores, and perform small acts of kindness every day. Strike up a conversation with your Uber driver. It could mean far more to them than you realize and help them in ways you never even imagined.

I have been holding my tongue about something that happened during the Ohio gubernatorial race. I refused to speak while the election was underway because I did not want my words mistaken for an attempt to influence anyone’s vote. But now that the election is over, I have something to say. For nearly twenty years, my ministry has taken me among the homeless, the abused, the exploited, and the forgotten. I have sat with victims of sexual violence and witnessed the lifelong wounds of childhood trauma. What Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign did to Amy Acton was among the most morally repulsive things I have witnessed in American politics. They took a woman whose stepfather was indicted for raping her when she was twelve years old and featured her mother, from whom she had been estranged for nearly fifty years, in a political advertisement attacking her credibility. The advertisement challenged Acton’s account of her childhood without mentioning the sexual abuse allegations or the circumstances of that estrangement. When people expressed their horror, the campaign defended it. Imagine examining another person’s childhood suffering and fractured family relationships, then deciding those wounds might help win an election. Anyone who has worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse understands the painful realities of denial, betrayal, shame, and estrangement. A child growing into a successful adult does not erase what happened. Nor does a parent’s denial make that suffering disappear. I find it equally disturbing that an elderly mother, whom Acton herself described as unwell, was brought into this spectacle. Whatever her own struggles or responsibility for the past, exploiting that fractured relationship was grotesque. To everyone who defended this, consider the message you sent to survivors. To the young woman whose family refuses to believe her. To the man who has carried the shame of childhood abuse for forty years. To the frightened child who has yet to tell anyone. What did you teach them about the value of their suffering? I am a priest. I believe in repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. But none of those things requires me to pretend that deliberate cruelty is anything less than a grave moral failure. Your political allegiance does not absolve you of moral responsibility. You do not get to set aside your conscience during an election and retrieve it afterward. If your loyalty requires you to defend the exploitation of a childhood sexual abuse survivor, your loyalty has become an idol. And if your conscience cannot recognize the wrong here, examine what political tribalism has done to it. This is not about Republicans or Democrats. We have a choice as a people: continue excusing cruelty from our preferred political camp, or summon the courage to condemn it wherever it appears. Amy Acton deserved better. Every survivor who watched this unfold deserved better. And God help us if we have reached the point where winning an election matters more than protecting the dignity of a wounded human being.

🚨Nathalia Gadelha's first instructor and mentor has posted a statement. I write these words unequivocally… I was one of Nathalia’s first instructors and mentor. She was without a doubt the most naturally gifted pilot I have ever taught, and I have been teaching for 40 years!! That young lady was born to fly! There was not a check ride that the examiner was not blown away! When she did her Lear type rating, she had less than 1100 hours and she absolutely aced the PIC type rating and the examiner thought she had about 5000 hours! I gave her numerous opportunities to fly different airplanes to include tailwheel and the Caravan. When I gave her her Spin Endorsement for her CFI, we did so many spins that I started to become nauseous! Truth!! I am saddened, because so many of the pilots in training today never wanted to become pilots and only want to become airline pilots! As I did check rides, I saw this time and time again! They had no passion for flying. They only wanted to get to the airlines to make the big money… Nathalia was PASSIONATE about flying!!! She was a 💯% natural born pilot!!! I pray that she continues to fly amongst the clouds in heaven. May she rest in peace and God watch over her. ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏 📸Chris Kirk #Aviation #Pilot #NathaliaGadelha #AviationCommunity #FlyHigh #InMemoriam

What @PfParks Dr. Paul Parks won’t tell you, but I will. He loves this province, and truly believes that every Albertan should have timely access to HC when needed. For that reason, he is taking a pay cut to represent Albertans, and support Public HC. Thank you Dr. Parks.

Cherish those who care for and love you no matter what.
Life has a way of changing us. Careers shift, priorities evolve, we experience loss, face unexpected challenges, and sometimes become entirely different versions of ourselves. One of the greatest gifts in life is having friends who stick around through all of it. The ones who don't disappear when life gets complicated, who make room for your growth, and who stand beside you through both the beautiful and difficult chapters. Cherish the people who stay. They're rare, and they're worth holding on to. ❤️

Replying to @ABDanielleSmith
@ABDanielleSmith @UCPCaucus governance has nothing to do with the majority of Albertans. Zero. It has to do with placating the far right…stealing our money, our tax dollars to do it. Fraudulently. Illegally. And hiding it. Our govt is a criminal entity.

Meet Ambarish Ghosh! (Building Robots That Hunt Cancer) An IISc scientist is developing microscopic robots that could one day navigate the human body, detect cancerous cells and deliver medicines directly to diseased tissues! > Graduated with an Integrated MSc in Physics from IIT Kharagpur in 1997 > Completed his PhD in Physics at Brown University, USA, in 2004 > Conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University > Returned to India and joined IISc Bengaluru in 2009 > Began developing microscopic, magnetically controlled swimming robots > Designed spiral-shaped nanostructures that move using rotating magnetic fields > Demonstrated ways to steer these tiny machines through fluids > Explored their potential for targeted drug delivery and biological sensing > Received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 2018 > Became Professor at IISc's Centre for Nano Science and Engineering > Advanced research on nanorobots operating in complex biological environments > Investigated their potential for detecting and targeting cancerous tissues > Developed techniques to study mechanical properties inside living cells > Won the 2025 Tata Transformation Prize in Healthcare > In 2026, his team demonstrated mobile quantum sensors guided by magnetic microbots How could these tiny robots transform cancer treatment? Conventional cancer treatments can damage healthy cells alongside tumours, causing serious side effects. Ghosh's team is developing magnetically controlled nanorobots that can navigate microscopic environments using external magnetic fields. These tiny machines could eventually deliver medicines more precisely to diseased tissues, potentially reducing damage to healthy cells. His research also explores combining magnetic microbots with quantum sensors to measure conditions inside living cells. Imagine a future where doctors could send microscopic robots directly towards diseased tissues, delivering treatments exactly where they are needed. The technology remains experimental, but Ghosh's research is bringing that possibility closer to reality.

Ten million people have watched a TED speaker accidentally destroy the entire brain training app industry. She filmed the talk once at TEDxVancouver and it has been on YouTube ever since. Lumosity charges $12 a month to simulate a diluted version of what she covered in 14 minutes for free. Her name is Dr. Lara Boyd. She is a neuroscientist at the University of British Columbia and the researcher who runs the Brain Behaviour Lab studying how practice physically rebuilds the brain after stroke. For over a decade she has repeated the same answer to the only question that matters: how do you actually change a brain? Her entire framework fits on a napkin. Every experience physically changes your brain. Chemical changes last hours, structural changes last years, functional changes rewire whole networks. The only driver that works is behavior. Nothing beats practice. The harder the struggle, the bigger the rewiring. No two brains need the same dose. That last rule alone has probably cost the brain training app industry a hundred million dollars in canceled subscriptions. "The brain you have at the end of this sentence is not the brain you had at the start." That is a paraphrase Boyd returns to across the talk. London taxi drivers have measurably larger spatial memory regions. Braille readers have larger sensory maps for the reading hand. Founders install a $15 meditation app and skip the one difficult conversation that would actually rewire their defaults. Parents hand their kid an educational tablet and never let the kid struggle with a problem long enough for the structure to lay down. The talk is free on YouTube. Boyd's lab publishes its research open-access. Boyd still teaches at UBC. Almost none of the ten million viewers have added one hour of struggle to their week since watching. The science is free. The willingness to actually practice the hard thing instead of the easy app is the entire edge.

What a simple man, what a legacy he leaves behind. No simple feat that a Doctor, Coffee aficionado, Poet, Biker, and an amazing humanitarian. We all miss him. I had never met the man and had only known him through this medium but loved him for who he was.
This time last year during a very difficult time. The loss of @drdagly was very fresh.
