Very concerning
I am deeply concerned about the news of the incident in Wangaratta involving Helen Haines @helenhainesindi Awaiting updates on her condition. @AlboMP speaking at a news conference. Thoughts are with Helen and her family and community at this time.

Queensland is Australia's most disaster-prone state and we won't stand by while Canberra tries to cut disaster recovery funding.

Amazing work from the Roosters who managed against all odds to win a GF with only 12 origin players and 3 internationals. Hard to believe the team who made the finals last year and managed to sign the QLD captain and NSW hooker this year were somehow able to turn it around #NRLGF

Please keep check on Phoenix
Phoenix Crossland is a very good human being, and one of the most genuine in rugby league. I hope he’s got good support around him. Some of the stuff out of tonight is just heartbreaking. No winners in this situation. #NRL

What Actually Triggered the Nepal–Tibet Border Flash Flood? A massive ice and rock avalanche from a glacier triggered a chain reaction near the Nepal–China border. The avalanche and debris blocked the river, forming a temporary barrier lake. When the blockage gave way, a powerful surge of water, mud and debris rushed downstream, causing devastating flash floods across Gyirong in Tibet and Nepal’s Rasuwa district. GLACIAL COLLAPSE → DEBRIS BLOCKAGE → TEMPORARY BARRIER LAKE → BREACH → DEVASTATING FLASH FLOOD 🌊🏔️

This is where the flash superflood on the Nepal-Tibet border today first began. From an altitude of 17,000 ft on Langtang Lirung in the Himalayas, a ~2,000 ft-wide chunk of glacier ice snapped off and fell ~4,000 ft to the valley below, generating an impact 6.3% as powerful as the Hiroshima nuclear explosion and causing a Magnitude 5.2 seismic event. Upon impact, this massive ice chunk was then pulverized into a violent 100+ ft-tall surge of glacier water, rocks, and mud that flowed into the nearby Trishuli River. Funneled by Nepal’s extremely steep and jagged terrain, the resulting flood wave became an unsurvivable wall of water and debris for the immediate communities downstream.

Someone needs to be held accountable and to make sure those who use verbal and radio communication have basic techniques
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon has 'unreservedly' apologised to the family of teenage hiker Lily Hooper after they were initially told she had been found alive. Lanyon said he was sorry for the miscommunication error and "any additional trauma that may have caused to Lily's family". The 18-year-old was tragically found dead in NSW bushland eight days after she went missing. #police #hiker #SouthernHighlands #NSW #NSWpolice

Aboriginal way she is to be referred to as Kumanjayi little baby after death, not her name! By saying her name, you are disturbing her spirit's journey to the dreamtime. Rest easy little one. 🖤💛❤ #copyandpaste🪽 #Reposted🖤💛❤️
