Now online! APOBEC3A and APOBEC3B drive distinct mutational landscapes in tumors. We showed how A3A and A3B substrate preferences for different hairpin structures can be exploited to identify patients' tumors with mutations caused by either A3A or A3B. nature.com/articles/s41467-0

Had a great time at my first #RSNA hearing about cutting-edge radiology research and meeting colleagues as a #FutureRadRes. Wonderful to see MCCormick Place from SkyEdge as well! @RSNA @RSNATrainees – at Chicago, IL

Although the implosion of OceanGate’s Titan was heard from the very beginning and death was certain, resources were still used to rescue those on board. When it’s migrants who may very well survive, resources suddenly become scarce. The wretched of the earth are not worth saving.

Excited to share our paper out today in @nchembio! DM-Seq is our non-destructive approach for detecting DNA methylation. We even benchmarked against the recently acquired diagnostic technology TAPS (by Exact, maker of Cologuard). Thread! đŸ§”nature.com/articles/s41589-0

My name is Muhil, and I first came to the United States when I was 2 years old. Despite living here lawfully for two decades, I did not receive my green card with my family because I aged out.

24 days ago I learned my daughter was dying in utero, and if untreated I risked preeclampsia and stroke. Termination is illegal in NC after 21 weeks, which I was, even when she had no hope of surviving and I was in danger. Because I had the means to leave, I’m ok and recovering.

Extremely excited to be able to share this with the wider #deaminase community. This manuscript started from a simple question: to create inhibitors of DNA deaminases, could we go beyond mimicking the individual bases to mimicking the very structure of the DNA backbone?

These efforts could not have been possible without the strong collaboration with the @DmochowskiUPenn lab and Dora von Trentini, as well as the amazing @Berrios_KN and @AleksiaBarka.

I could not have picked a more supportive lab than the @KohliLab to pursue the PhD portion of my MD-PhD and develop my skills as a chemical biologist. Our DNA dumbbell story is yet to be over, so be on the lookout as we advance our modulators to the cellular realm!
