New York City, wetin dey sup? It was a joy to commemorate 34 years of the Nigerian Day Parade alongside the many Nigerian New Yorkers who fill our city with life. From the entrepreneurs whose businesses strengthen our neighborhoods, to the sounds of Afrobeats pouring out of graduation parties in Southeast Queens, and the aroma of Agege bread calling out to passersby in Brooklyn — the impact of Nigerian New Yorkers is felt across the five boroughs. Our city is richer in culture, stronger in community, and more vibrant because of your contributions.

One reason why this kind of commentary is not useful is that this is what every politician says or implies. I don’t need to steal money because I am already rich. Or, I don’t like money, I have been using the same watch since 1905. Or I have no house in Abuja. This means absolutely nothing. What does it mean to a poor Nigerian to tell them you are already rich and this whole political adventure is even hurting you? Are you more hurt financially than any poor Nigerian who cannot buy kerosene or put food on the table? Nigerian politicians who ruin the country or enable corruption don’t do it because they are poor. Or because they are stupid. They do it because the entire system runs on a massive cycle of pecuniary and parochial incentives. Buhari as far as we know did not amass stupendous wealth as president but still he made the country significantly poorer. Nigerian politicians who are powerless in the face of elite capture of the state don’t need to be personally corrupt for this to happen. We need politicians to have a clear workable plan for ending poverty, building infrastructure and institutions, reducing corruption, fighting terrorism and building a nation that isn’t balkanised between competing tribal interests that only serve those in power. Nigeria doesn’t need another person who will tell them he is doing them a favor by running for office or that in fact he is getting poorer. We don’t need more of “I am a good guy, trust me bro.” What is your plan exactly? How will you deal with strongly entrenched interests who profit from this dysfunction and who would rather see the country break apart than lose their power and influence? Why should Nigerians who have heard these kinds of sweet nothings and who might see you as a regional champion (however wrong they may be) trust that you can actually do things differently and will not just capitulate once in power? He might be the least problematic of the presidential candidates but his messaging is piss poor, and must improve if he is to get support beyond his current cult following, enough to successfully challenge the very determined incumbent.
"In 1987, American Express introduced platinum card for 5000 people, here is mine, they later introduced the Black card (Centurion card) in 1999 for 1000 people on the planet, here is mine. I had a viable business and while I don't regret going into Politics, it made me poorer." - Peter Obi, NDC Presidential Candidate.

Rivers Politics: On Thursday, 26 June 2025, they all agreed to work together. That understanding formed the basis of political calm at the time. The question arose when the Governor formally defected to the APC on Tuesday, 9 December 2025: did he truly breach that agreement to work together by aligning more openly with the party of the President? Gov. Sim Fubara working for the success of President Bola Tinubu should not have come as a surprise to the FCT minister, as Wike himself serves in Tinubu’s cabinet. By all indications, the reason Wike and his loyalists suddenly shifted posture and revived impeachment threats against the governor was because Fubara joined APC. What followed was even more signal. Supporters of President Tinubu were publicly cautioned to leave Rivers State alone. Those who visited before FCT Minister Nyesom Wike publicly issued threats included the NSA, Mr Rabadu; Minister of Aviation Hon. Festus Keyamo; Mrs Nimi Wilson Jack; and the APC NWC, led by the National Secretary, @DrSRJ_. What political calculation was disrupted by the governor’s defection, such that it reignited yet another impeachment move against both the governor and his deputy, for the third attempt, following two earlier failed plots? The answer to this aforementioned question is what I believe President Bola Tinubu is gathering.

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: Peter Obi @PeterObi as a Case Study 1. 💡 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘅 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 Politics aside, many people struggle to recognize opportunities when they come. Peter Obi is a clear example. 𝗛𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯, and even when it came, he failed to identify its true nature. This lack of preparedness left him stuck between two choices: committing class suicide by aligning fully with the people’s power, or behaving like his colleagues in the APC and PDP. He chose neither. And that indecision cost him and millions who depended on him. 2. ⚠️𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲: 𝗗𝗼 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗕𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗯𝗶 Aspiring leaders and dreamers should take a critical lesson from this. If you harbor a significant dream, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. Crucially, you must commit to a clear political path and ideology well before the moment of truth arrives. Peter Obi exhibited ambition, but he lacked the necessary plan and strategy to convert it into victory. This strategic void is arguably what led him to abandon the "people's power" post election, seeking coalitions with the very individuals he once labelled the "𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮." He even announced he would do just one term, a statement that exposed desperation and lack of vision rather than leadership. 3. 🛑 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗯𝗶: 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 Peter Obi should cease being a distraction and time-waster for Nigerian youth, who are forcibly dragging him to the forefront. He ought to withdraw from the presidential race while he can still command appreciation and transform the Obidient movement into an 𝗡𝗚𝗢. His political philosophy, even as governor, appears cantered around 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆, 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 He was praised for donating boreholes instead of building comprehensive pipe-borne water systems, and for gifting SUVs to herbalists instead of investing in mass public transit like 𝗕𝗥𝗧 or 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗠 lines. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. 4. 🎯 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗮 Peter Obi is will be remembered as a Kingmaker who never secured the crown. His current political activities make it difficult to determine his party allegiance. He is presently campaigning simultaneously for multiple political entities, for instance, supporting the ADC in Abuja while backing the Labour Party (LP) in Anambra. This lack of clear political alignment is distorting the broader political calculations. To honour his legacy and the initial energy he inspired, he should focus honourably on continuing his role as a 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗚𝗢 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿.. He should stop distracting Nigerians, especially the youth from the struggle for total liberation that intensified after EndSARS. President Trump’s decision to redesignate Nigeria 🇳🇬 is a momentous step forward for international religious freedom. His actions can serve as a model to protect persecuted Christians worldwide. Very glad @ADFLegal @ADFIntl joined this letter w many great faith leaders. @CPAC
Today I joined dozens of religious freedom advocates, led by @CPAC, in thanking President Trump for his strong leadership on behalf of persecuted Christians in Nigeria. We suggested four goals Nigeria should reach before the United States would revoke its status as a “Country of Particular Concern”: 1. Increase security for Christians 2. End impunity for anti-Christian violence 3. Resettle displaced populations 4. Repeal blasphemy laws @ADFIntl is working daily to support legal cases and stand for justice in Nigeria, where more Christians are killed for their faith than all other nations combined. We’re grateful that the Trump administration has not forgotten these believers, and we look forward to even greater efforts to support persecuted Christians worldwide.

I had only 50,000 naira/$40 in my account when my wife, who was my girlfriend back then suggested we get married. Mind you I had just become a blind person at the age of 27 as a result of armed band1ts that attacked me while driving Uber, one of them sh0t me in the face with a local gun and it damaged both of my eyes, I was still depressed and I had exhausted almost all our finances on hospital bills. and there she was about two months after the incident telling me that we should get married, the same way you are surprised now reading this was the way I was surprised and surprisingly she said to me, baby don’t worry, we will grow together. God is with us. so we went ahead with our decision, I proposed to her eventually, and we got married a year after I became blind.. We did only sitting room wedding just family members came together and we did traditional and court wedding., No fancy elaborate wedding in the hall. But I eventually told my wife that I promise her that on our 10th year anniversary. She will have that big wedding that she would have loved to have and guess what guys I am the one always talking about it she doesn’t even think about it. she deserves to be celebrated. And one thing I’m grateful for is that we are not where we used to be. We may not be where we want to be yet, but we give all glory to God.. We have been married for five years now and we believe God is just starting with us.. If you are wondering how I typed this as a blind person, I’ll pin a video in the comments showing how I use Facebook with my smart phone. Repost to inspire others and don’t forget to follow for more of our inspiring contents.

I may not know what you studied, Sir, but on this matter, you are wrong - very wrong. The key drivers of HDI in any economy are powered by one thing: funds. Which is why internally generated revenue (IGR) is not just important - it’s indispensable. Now, pick a pen. ECO 101 KEY DRIVERS OF HDI 1. Health – This speaks to the quality of healthcare in a society: accessibility, affordability, and effectiveness of medical services. It means building more public hospitals, equipping them adequately, and hiring competent medical personnel - properly remunerated, trained, and retrained. It extends to nutrition and food security, demanding heavy investment in agriculture, storage facilities, and importation of foods we cannot produce locally. And guess what will fund all this? Not the blood of Jesus, but cold, hard cash. 2. Education – Quality education requires access. That means more schools as populations swell. In a state like Lagos, which shelters droves from failed states, that means constantly erecting new schools. Bricks and mortar alone won’t teach, so we must employ teachers, train them, pay them decently, and equip schools with the necessary learning tools. And what will achieve all this? Not the catchy mantra of consumption to production - but raw cash. 3. Standard of Living – This speaks to GNI per capita and purchasing power. Economic growth hinges on higher incomes and better wages. That means jobs - sustainable, decent jobs. Which in turn means government must create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, pay employees well, and encourage new enterprises. Exactly what Lagos State accomplished under Asiwaju, which is why it could grow its IGR through thriving businesses and corporate taxes. I write this not just as a commentator, but as one who has earned degrees in economics, finance, and accounting - both in Nigeria and in European business schools. So, just because your political Messiah failed spectacularly on every basic indicator of good governance does not mean you should assassinate economics. I trust this short piece sheds light. And should confusion persist, I remain available for further tutoring. Good Evening Severally...
If you sat down in class, you would know that the IGR is of no relevance if there is no corresponding growth in the HDI. People are hungry and dying. You're here talking about IGR. You’re very mad. If you want to Amunike us, go and learn work or carry this nonsense to Facebook

Taiwo Oyedele said Nigeria’s free zone reforms aim to attract investment without hurting local businesses. Exports stay tax-free, while domestic sales may get up to 10 years of tax breaks for priority sectors. A new special economic zone law is underway to boost competitiveness.

Supporting this political version of @PeterObi for 2027 is for those that do not have much doing with their political capital/energy/time He is a fairly decent man who is also extremely politically selfish. Asides the fact that he caught all his "allies" off guard in 2023 so they couldn't run under Labour (una don see the result with the decamping) he does not care about any other person's political ambition. Post 2023,he refused to build the party using his leverage. There is a reason why almost everyone that ran with him in 2023 don run comot. Even the first major person to join him @valentineozigbo collect from e hand. @OlumideAkpata did not fare better. Ask around. There is a reason why a two time Governor has 0 political protégés. For whatever reason, and just like Buhari, God gave him following. Buhari was able to adapt and make the concessions to succeed in 2015. But Peter Obi get coconut head. E no wan change E wan run Nigeria like one man business. Does that make him a bad man? Not at all. It is merely unfortunate that e dey do like the Nigeria he wishes to govern. Resources full ground, but he cannot find how to harness it. Obidients, hold your principal to account. Ask him the tough questions. Does he want to be an activist or a politician? Una don fight and pursue every one comot una camp on e behalf, only to end up with Malami as a senior Obidient. 🤭🤭 Sorry for the laff.

The Middle Belt is the solid mineral and Agriculture hub in Nigeria. It is also the most diverse region in the country in terms of ethnicity and religion. Home to over 100 ethnic groups with ethno-linguistic fragmentation and religious fault lines running across it. It is also the transition zone. If the military could solve the problem, Obj would have succeeded. These issues have been a recurring decimal since the establishment of the country. They are deeply ingrained in ethnic tensions, land ownership, land use, land boundaries, land grabbing, farmer - herders clash, religion and commercial activities. Every military or security deployment will be accused of bias. In fact, the Zaki Biam massacre occurred when the military officers were taken out by Tiv militia groups for supporting the Jukuns. The 3rd Army Div in Jos is constantly on peacekeeping missions in the region. The Benue, Taraba and Plateau axis is now filled with armed groups. Arms proliferation of arms is made easy by cross-border smuggling of arms through porous borders at Benue, Taraba and Adamawa. I honestly can see a pathway to peace via military efforts alone. There are too many structural issues that must be addressed. Herders must ranch, herders and farmers must be documented and captured on NIN, stop trans-border migration of foreign terrorists claiming to be herders, farmlands must be properly documented, land boundaries respected amongst the ethnic groups, state or regional law enforcement units, locally integrated crisis surveillance system, compensation and justice... PBAT asked for the job, he should sort the issues out and work towards bringing lasting peace to the region. However, the solution is not in the hands of one man.

Na PBAT wey wan do reform I blame. He should have followed the populist line. It's simple, ask Cardoso to issue N20trn in ways and means. Mop up lower denominations of the currency and issue 5k, 10k, and 20k notes. Leave the interest rate and blast the money on fuel subsidy. Ask JP Morgan for more funds, and use NLNG as collateral to defend the Naira, sell more oil in the futures market. Maintain the fuel price and fx rate. If the black market hits N4,000, let it be so as long as the official rate is N500. If we default on payment of our loan obligations, let everyone face the consequences. Tell NNPC to provide 6 months of fuel supply stock and manage 6 months of scarcity and fuel queues. Burn the reserves, nobody cares, let imports be scare, there is enough Naira to pay any amount for goods. Issue another ways and means and increase minimum wage. There is no need for any tax reform. Just continue to pump Naira at any cost into the economy. Redenominate the currency in 2026 like Ghana and remove 2 Zeros before the elections. Check out after 8 years for the next person.
