Hopefully, one step closer to the clinic…
It was exciting working on it: methylation, fragmentomics, and all.
Thanks @benbfly and all others!
Just a teaser: the correlation of methylation and tumour fraction (healthy controls are the blue bubbles).

Excited to announce our new preprint on Nanopore methylation for liquid biopsy. Thanks for producing these amazing sequences Filippo, @silvoLab and @nanopore, and thanks to the analysis team Efrat and @ShariO_51. Excellent team effort. @The__Taybor said to get cracking so we did!
If you enjoy #RNA biology, #RNAediting, and all sort of RNA modifications (#m6A, etc.), join us next week for the Final EPITRAN Conference.
Just a few hours every day, Mon to Wed.
The registration is free and the discussions engaging…

special bonus for cell biologists: HEK293 genomic profile.
Note how all CNVs are NOT clonal.
Filippo, the bioinformatician, politely asked how biologists can use these t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶s̶ cells.
A very good point…

By the way, for all #nanopore aficionados, our work on detection of Copy Number Alterations from #liquidbiopsy is out. No amplification, cell-free DNA goes straight to the flow cells (just add adaptors)

APOBEC1 is present in ~every tetrapod. APOBEC3A is primate-specific. Short story: every mammal has its own set of APOBEC3s. And bats have plenty (most quite similar to APOBEC3A)

almost straight out of #nanoporeconf, here is our preprint on CNV detection of #cfDNA from #liquidbiopsy of cancer patients

and by the way... that's my student :)
nanopore sequencing on cancer liquid biopsies - Our first foray in a field that is definitely not APOBECs….
It has been quite good working on it.
The bioRxiv manuscript will follow quite soon
...and here it is, hot off the virtual presses, our SARS-CoV-2 editing manuscript is out in Science Advances. Now with our favourite model for the editing (and more samples)

the proofreading system in CoV actually seems to help also with deaminations (this suggests that what we see happens later on): dx.plos.org/10.1371/journal.…
Congratulations to Martina, Salvatore and Francesco: #PhD viva and #lab party, everything online in these days of #coronavirus
