Part 1 of 2 @SOAS @SOASpolitics done🐣🥹🙆💙
This frame is an assertion of three Dalit generations of yearned aspirations of education-liberation-emancipation.
I owe to Ambedkar💙 and my staunch Ambedkarite Parents who ensured my access to education.

Mumbai police has detained @deepali_writes in her Chembur house ahead of candlelight gathering at Chaityabhoomi tonight at 6 PM.
The police is stopping a Dalit woman from coming to Ambedkar’s sacred place. We will not tolerate this police repression. Come in huge number tonight

Extreme police brutality against Ambedkarites who were demanding justice for Sahil. Many activists, including @Sonpimplerahul , @deepali_writes and others, have been detained.

It is 6:30 am outside Jamia Millia Islamia, where students demanding a union have faced a brutal crackdown after beginning a hunger strike. The campus outside right now has a heavy police & CRPF presence. So much for student representation & campus democracy.

I want Gyanesh to go, yes. but I want justice for Sahil Wakode first. I want justice for Darshan Solanki. I want justice for all students, incl. savarna students, who have commited suicide on IITs or similar premier campuses
These colleges have casteist admin who treat students like vermin. Who treat student rights & safeguards as irritable compliances. They kill our brightest young talent. These are ghouls. They need to be made accountable. IITs & all such institutions need to change. On priority!
This is a national emergency. Anyone who is "ok" with kids dying on college campuses every year is a monster. You cannot be ok with this. There should be no ambiguity here. This is a clear issue.
Can India as a nation STOP its colleges from killing its students? Yes or No?

Every Dalit in India spend their whole life proving their merit, conciously and subconsciously. The society is draining. Even if you are the best in what you do, your capability will forever be doubtful. You have to put that extra effort in everything you do.
NEW | "The entire matter has been diverted towards cheating and then towards Sahil Wakode's merit and reservation."
Deepali Salve (@deepali_writes), AIISCA general secretary, tells Greeshma Kuthar (@jeegujja).

Listen to this. Sahil Wakode isn’t the first, there was Aniket Ambhore in 2014, Darshan Solanki in 2022 and many similar cases of caste atrocities. All the cases of caste suicides were handled with same apathy.

@AIISCA1957 President Dr. Rahul Sonpimple and General Secretary Deepali Salve confront IIT Bombay Director on the institutional murder of Sahil Wakode and pervasive casteism in IIT.

mad scenes! Mumbai police detaining @Sonpimplerahul & @deepali_writes from IIT Bombay for trying to meet the admin! After so many student deaths-- is the admin so precious it can't meet civil society delegation? Casteist priorities of police & admin on full display!

Mumbai Police have spread themselves across IIT Bombay, hours ahead of a "March to IIT" call given by Ambedkarite leaders from AIISCA and other orgs who've been striking in support of Sahil Wakode's parents. Two weeks since they've been on a hunger strike, @frontline_india

Ambedkarite Activist Deepali Salve has been detained by Mumbai Police from her home for organising protests demanding justice for Sahil Wakode.
Shame on the Maharashtra Government, You failed to deliver justice to Sahil Wakade, and now, when activists are fighting for justice, you are arresting them instead.
Absolutely shameful! @Dev_Fadnavis

We were released with a warning to go straight home, not to let people gather and neither to protest nor campaign for anyone. Our campaign was aimed at rallying people at Azad Maidan to support Sahil's parents, but neither the campaign nor the fight will stop.

How do leaders of such a huge movement like CJP, that is being spoken about across the world now, refuse to engage with the reality of caste on campuses? Or that campuses do not center student welfare, to the extent that they promote the opposite? What does this silence mean?
