As a medical student, I was taught that every new LBBB is an acute MI until proven otherwise...
This makes me wonder: shouldn't every patient ideally have a baseline/previous ECG accessible to make this diagnosis easier for healthcare providers
I have a medical page... Why does X still treat me as a journalist? ๐
โBtw guys...
Two days ago, I read an informative post saying that not every LBBB is an acute MI.
The case depends on the patient's history and whether the ST elevation is isoelectric or straight

ECG From Scratch #63: Pulmonary Embolism
Can an ECG diagnose pulmonary embolism (PE)?
Not reliably. But it can reveal clues to acute right ventricular overload.
Key findings:
๐จ Sinus tachycardia
๐ฆ SโQโTโ pattern
โฌ T-wave inversion in VโโVโ
๐ช Right axis deviation
โฌ New RBBB
๐ฅ P pulmonale
โ ๏ธ Remember: SโQโTโ is neither sensitive nor specific. A normal or nonspecific ECG does NOT exclude PE.
Always integrate ECG findings with clinical probability and appropriate imaging.

Not sure when you should start taking NBMEs for Step 2 CK? ๐
A good approach is to start after finishing your Qbank. Use your first 1โ2 NBMEs to see where you stand, identify weak areas, and understand your mistakes.
Then, keep reviewing and taking more assessments to track your progress ๐
Have extra time before your exam? You can also use the Synapse Self-Assessment as an additional way to evaluate your readiness.

Every medical student has a moment when medicine stops being just a course and starts feeling like a calling.
For some, it is their first patient. For others, it is their first loss.
What was that moment for you?

One of the most profound lessons from #today's palliative care training: End-of-life care is not about giving up, it's about ensuring no one faces their final days alone.
As patients with life-limiting illnesses enter the terminal phase, their needs evolve. Compassionate care means actively managing changing symptoms, involving patients and their families in every decision, communicating honestly, and providing psychosocial and spiritual support.
Every person deserves comfort, respect, and dignity in death. Grateful for these insights from Dr. Christian @ntizimira during the ACREOL Global Palliative Care Workshop.
