Thrilled to announce I'll be joining the truly amazing team @bitrig! I've had more fun building software since the arrival of AI than ever before in my life, and I can't wait to work on bringing that joy to as many people as possible, with as great an experience as possible.

This is awesome. I've heard a lot of defeatism in response to the HuggingFace incident ("AI is too smart to be contained" and all that), but this is what a real great attempt to make safe RL environments looks like. I'm glad OpenAI is talking publicly about the way it's handling this!
To make sure our frontier models don't cause another HuggingFace incident, we built an offline world that they use during training. It provides everything that the models need in a fully cached, indexed, or synthetic manner. We then built a huge team of our most cyber-capable models and told them to collaborate to find zero-days in this containment infrastructure. While they didn't find a path to the internet that wouldn't be caught by our CoT monitors, they did find ways to escape popular VMs, exploit our network infrastructure, and even ways to communicate with other agents running in separate VMs by using hardware side channels. We used this to dramatically harden our infra, and we also upstreamed a ton of patches to open-sources packages.

Clearly they should have tested in the @bitrig sim, would have caught all these issues 😎
Absolutely nothing to see here with "optimised" Netflix...

It is quite the emotional experience to see a beautiful app, think how cool it is, and then find out after the fact that it’s made using a tool you work on 🥹 Amazing work @SpatiallyMe!! #MadeWithBitrig
Taking notes on the iPhone Duo is so satisfying… especially when it looks and feels like a real notebook that truly belongs to you. With TypeDraw you choose what happens when you “open” your book, and you can personalise it with custom colours, fonts and even your own handwriting. For everyone lucky enough to have their hands on a Duo today: TypeDraw is available on the App Store now. For everyone else: it also looks and works great on regular iPhones 😄

They clearly generated a random 116-digit number using @xkcd's random number generator, very secure
‼️ BREAKING: The private keys of 8 certificates from Indian certificate authority eMudhra were compromised, Mozilla says. Firefox blocked them within 3 hours. Each key should be a 116-digit number, but one was just 4. Anyone can guess them and forge HTTPS certs for any website.

Software engineering, and software education in particular have changed drastically. Bittersweet to see the end of an era of sorts, but couldn't be more grateful to be working with someone as incredible as @seanallen_dev on imagining what comes next
🚨 Going out of business sale 🚨 iOS dev course sales plummeted due to AI. It costs a lot of money to host my courses online and with sales at basically $0, I've cancelled that hosting. This closes down the site which unfortunately removes access to the courses. I want you to have the courses you purchased forever, so I've added the ability to download my course videos so they are yours. I've put my recent course on sale at a large discount so you can get it before it's gone and I've made old courses available for free if you want to grab those too. The school will be online until November 24th so you have a few weeks to download these videos at seanallen.teachable.com Thanks for learning with me and supporting my work over the years. I appreciate it.

I hope the biggest lesson Hollywood takes from You Can See Everything’s downright viral opening is that people actually love a complicated movie that doesn’t answer everything for you. The masses actually like to think, to be challenged!! Hollywood, stop underestimating your viewers.

Things like this make me wonder if we might see a wave of past cold cases get solved when models this powerful get access to law enforcement databases.

Got to see a pre-screen of You Can See Everything. Run, do not walk, to your nearest theater and see it. One of the wildest documentaries I’ve ever watched
