Congratulations to my friend @LulaOficial on his electoral victory. Democracy and multilateralism have won in Brazil. Europe’s partnership with Brazil is thriving. We will remain by your side for the years to come. Together we will keep working closely for free and open trade. A rules-based global order. And strong ambitions for our climate.

BREAKING: Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva wins an unprecedented fourth term, narrowly defeating conservative Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro in a closely contested runoff election. Bolsonaro entered the runoff after leading the first round of voting, but Lula's strong support in northeastern Brazil helps secure his victory. The result puts Brazil at odds with the rightward shift seen elsewhere in the region, underscoring a deep political divide over the country's future. See what makes Brazil's political landscape different and what the outcome could mean for Latin America: foxnews.com/world/conservati…

People all across the world are fighting back against extremism. With Lula in Brazil, they just won. Authoritarian leaders always attack democracy because they stand no chance against the will of their people. Trump must respect the results and not undermine Brazil’s elections.

Lula Da Silva has won Brazil’s🇧🇷 Presidential election. Despite fierce US-Israel axis pressure, Brazil did not become the next Latin American country to fall to the revived Monroe Doctrine. A major assault against the BRICS project has been thwarted. Through popular resistance and mass mobilisation, the might and will of Washington’s empire of hypocrisy and barbarism can be thwarted. Here is Lula in 1978, leading the metalworkers’ union strike against the US-backed fascist dictatorship, in which he secured wage increases. He was imprisoned by the dictatorship.
Brazil’s🇧🇷 President Lula Da Silva on Going Underground, during the reign of Jair Bolsonaro: ‘A part of the country’s elite cannot stand to see poor people eating in restaurants, or travelling by plane, or buying cars. They CANNOT STAND to see poor people ascending, which is what we did through hundreds of public policies to improve the lives of poor people in this country.’ During Lula Da Silva’s transformative first Presidential term (2003-2009), 20 million Brazilians were lifted out of poverty, in part due to Lula’s signature Bolsa Familia program.

Yesterday, Brazil showed the world that the will of the people is stronger than the authoritarians who try to suppress it. Congratulations President @LulaOficial and congratulations Brazil.

True Brazilians have made their choice, convincingly and unmistakably; Lula won by more than 4,000,000 votes!

Flávio Bolsonaro wants Brazil’s election annulled because, he claims, Lula “changed the rules halfway through the game” by extending voting hours. There’s just one rather inconvenient detail. Bolsonaro’s own campaign ALSO requested an extension! His request covered specific areas, while Lula’s was nationwide, but both wanted voting hours extended. Now, having lost by 4.4 million votes, he wants the result overturned over a measure his own campaign supported. Quite extraordinary.
