My founder stages
2023: understanding *the world* so I know what I *should* work on
2024: understanding *my values* so I know what I *want* to work on
2025: looking for ALIVENESS IN MY SOUL so I know when THE UNIVERSE IS CALLING ME TO A DANCE OF DIVINE CREATION AND GLORY
Replying to @NathanpmYoung
...do you think I chose my partner because he "creates value?"
he sees into my soul without flincing
falls on his knees when I enter the room
makes life feel like a painting
If there's "value" beyond love this deep, I don't know it
2026: burn out, spend three months playing video games on a couch in brazil, come face to face with how much of my self worth is tied up with being "productive and successful", start letting go of professional identity, realise I have no idea what I *want* to spend my time doing,
I cleared up the leaderboard of Wayfinding a bit so people other than me and @jnsyaaa (and @MrSimmoSimpson hehe) have a chance
How did old arcade games avoid the problem of one or two players filling up the top end of the leaderboard? Maybe just by charging for each run?

Here are some progress shots for 'Close Encounters' 20x16 inches, oil on aluminum panel.
A scale drawing in pencil, an oil study for the background, the mostly completed painting, and the final version.
Inside the vast sweep of an O’Neill Cylinder…a manmade world inside a space station or generation ship, a child climbs unsupervised through a lush, wild space, turning over rocks and peeking through branches to discover a praying mantis. The setting is futuristic, but the subject is timeless. Curiosity and the drive to explore and discover how the world works is built into us.
I love the juxtaposition of advanced technology, capable of building worlds among the stars, with natural environments allowed to grow wild. It suggests a deliberate choice to cultivate those spaces, even though expensive and difficult…a recognition that they are of immense value beyond just their beauty.
The science-fiction elements are the visual language, but the subject is humanity itself as the curious, clever, innovative, slightly wild seekers of beauty and knowledge that we are.
