Look at him, thats my Qual.
Your what?
My Qualitative! My vibe specialist. Look at him, you notice anything different about him? Look at his face.
I'll give you a hint, his name is Jayden. He won a local poetry competition in bushwick! Yeah I'm sure of the vibe.
Quant firms are hiring idea guys, not quants
I've been skeptical about the whole - software is commoditized, ideas are the moat argument
But I've seen first hand the best quant and technical firms in the world hire thinkers, liberal arts grads, and generalists
I predict the trend accelerates
Letter from @AQRCapital below
Most important thing said on this metrics call: "In the process of working with an independent review firm to consider if action is required, any requirement to remediate investors"
"Conversion of debt to equity is an important tool in the management of risk" - Andrew Lockhart of Metrics
"provisions" "unrealised provisions" "non cash" "no realised loss" "point in time adjustment" "conservatism for stress testing" just amazing
When the audit for the LITs invested alongside you in illiquids is a month late, and the manager has to accept double digit percentage point writedowns to get it signed off in time, how close to par do you think those assets trade in a genuine (non-related party) transaction?
And what's the manager worth, where the auditor "accepts ratings as correct", with those ratings approved by the investment committee, comprised, atleast until recently, of the four equity partners?
Good that WTC has a new, male CFO. The one place you really don't want to see any gender diversity at the top, given rick le blanc still hanging around
