Nasdaq vol (VXN) spread vs SPX Vol (VIX) is quite wide
The previous spike was in April/May with tech stock surging - "stock up, vol up"
The question now is does rest of the market crash with tech or are we just gonna keep rotating
Equity rotation seen in skews.
Put skew is concentrated in the large-cap cap-weighted indices:
$QQQ (+3.64 vols, 81st pctl)
$SPX (+3.84 vols, 77th pctl) closed Friday in the top quartile of their past year on 1M 25d put-over-ATM skew
$DIA (+1.81 vols, 64th pctl)
$IWM (+2.15 vols, 50th pctl) sit lower
From Thursday's close, DIA 1M 25d put-over-call skew rose 0.63 vols (+2.05 to +2.68; +0.32 spot drift on DIA's -1.25% move, +0.31 surface) and IWM rose 0.47 vols (+2.78 to +3.25; +0.46 surface as 25d call IV fell 0.53 vols vs puts -0.07). Excluding names within ±5 days of earnings, our equal-weight 1M implied-correlation proxy (22 clean S&P large caps, VIX-based) rose from 19.8% on Wed 10/21 to 24.9% Thu and 26.9% Fri (67th 1y pctl) as VIX rose 2.77 pts (16.68 to 19.45).

“That floor is eroding.” 📉
Tech dropped 6%, rallied hard, and now Brent Kochuba of @spotgamma sees the wobble getting worse. He compares it to a tire shaking faster before it comes off.
Meta’s slide and rising volatility make this bounce feel a lot less safe.
If you remove 0DTE, SPX GEX is negative, and increasingly negative down into 7,400.
What tends to happen is the 0DTE offers supply some positive gamma support intraday, usually around 10AM.
If vol really increases, that 0DTE flow seems to subside.

$SPCX covered calls sold into earnings should be a nice winner as continue to collect premiums on both sides of the stock while holding long term from sub 120 still.
Lots of positive gamma between 155-167 roughly should be tough to get thru this week
