the reason moby-dick remains such a vital piece of human art is that it addresses what is probably one of humanity's greatest collective atrocities, the genocide of the whales, with an ambivalence it cannot itself fully articulate. melville is distraught, but he can't explain why

This is what happens when VC runs and owns everything, hyper capitalism requires all things grow exponentially forever. They looked at the facts and saw that arc was mostly used by tech ppl, who are a subset of the population rather than the entire planet.
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.
That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.
Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet todayβs security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.
We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:
Β· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
Β· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
Β· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
Β· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.
Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.
Womp womp

Recently attended an in-person handheld game console hackathon. I wrote a raycaster by hand. Someone wearing a βI β€οΈ slopβ tshirt saw mine and said βoh I wrote a ray caster too!β. They showed me. It was a ray *tracer* and claude did all the work. The person didnβt know basic graphics terms. They couldnβt answer basic questions about how it worked, could only talk about their prompting harness. Sad how AI is ruining the craft and community for people that actually like to program and have spent their lives getting good at it.
someone at work had an amazing idea I tried out today, which was just asking Claude Code to convert your neovim config to the same settings in Zed.
I use nvim in the terminal but whenever I need a desktop editor I like to use zed. its a fantastic editor really.
LLMs have increased the amount of use I get out of grafana by approximately 10000000000000 percent. every place I ever worked before LLMs we had grafana setup and basically zero useful dashboards. now the grafana we have at work is insane, it has so much cool stuff.

Every single person you meet in your daily life is fighting a hidden battle that you know nothing about
Send them a Zoom meeting link for an 8 AM call on Monday morning to finish them off

I normally listen to electronic music with few or repeating lyrics when needing to focus, but I've found that a looping Gregorian chant also does the trick! open.spotify.com/track/0xUL1β¦
nothing about trying to make content is ever a nice enjoyable everything works great kind of time. it is constantly struggling against the process of video and audio creation being absolutely awful on any computer system ever made apparently
I fucking hate @descript dude. It has become so fucking enshittified in two years itβs insane. Basic functions fail to work properly all the fucking time. What have they been doing for 2 years? It used to work fine. Iβm so fucking done with this software

I deleted the AGENTS.md from a fresh Phoenix 1.8 app and baited five coding agents. None made the Elixir mistakes. Four broke Phoenix 1.8 conventions, and one bug passed all 44 of the agent's tests
