I'll be working on a video next on the various new features in Phoenix and LiveView in 2025 and 2026 that I don't see as many people talking about: colocated hooks, the scopes pattern, the new layout pattern, etc.

the reason moby-dick remains such a vital piece of human art is that it addresses what is probably one of humanity's greatest collective atrocities, the genocide of the whales, with an ambivalence it cannot itself fully articulate. melville is distraught, but he can't explain why

I don’t think more and more aid to Haiti is the answer, at this rate Haiti is so messed up I’m not really sure what the answer is. But I dislike seeing people like you try to claim that this is a disaster of all their own making and washing away Europe’s roll in it.

Do you think *I* live in Haiti or something? I’m just passionate about the subject. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, and the reasons for that go beyond some kind of racial explanation or something.

Therefore: infinite growth impossible, and so the project is worthless and thrown away.

This is what happens when VC runs and owns everything, hyper capitalism requires all things grow exponentially forever. They looked at the facts and saw that arc was mostly used by tech ppl, who are a subset of the population rather than the entire planet.
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026. That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community. Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward. We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how: Β· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly. Β· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact. Β· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security. Β· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional. Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

You have mentioned several times you live in a β€œcold island” but you thrived; I have no idea where you live but I absolutely guarantee you do not have it anywhere near as hard as the average Haitian has for the life of the country.

In fact I think it’s fair to say there is no other place on earth that had a worse start than Haiti. Being a slave colony that had to win its freedom by the gun, being sanctioned for most its life, horrible regime change and economic stability…

It’s not as if Haiti had a fresh start 100 years ago and just failed to thrive. They started in an awful position and had more and more awful things happen to them.

The argument you Haiti Haters always pull out is β€œit’s been 100/200 years, get over it! Pull yourself up by your bootstraps!” as if the past condition of your country has nothing to do with its current condition.

There is simply more going on to Haiti then lack of work ethic or something. You seem completely disinterested in the material reasons why Haiti has failed to thrive and just insist it’s because they’re lazy, which is intellectually lazy on your part.
