Holy cow these recordings of a real person interacting with Dessa are astounding. I could not tell it was a bot.
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

I consider myself an Albertan and I am pleased to see Albertans resoundingly reject the idea of separation. Albertans are Canadians, first and foremost.

Go vote. Option 1 and no to the nine. Don't give some of the worst people in our province the leverage they want. They aren't looking for it in order to benefit you.
Do you believe that Alberta should remain a province in Canada? Tomorrow is your last chance to mark an X next to option 1 on your referendum ballot. Like it or not, history is being written tomorrow. Don't let others write it without your vote being cast. Make time to vote!

My impression of Premier Smith is that this was an emotionally challenging press conference for her. She called the Minister of Defence by the wrong name, she raced through all the information she had to give - almost mechanically. It would be tough for any leader and it showed
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says 39 people were hospitalized after a fire at CFB Wainwright, 19 are in critical condition. More details: ctvnews.ca/edmonton/article/…

I am on my way to Edmonton. I will get briefed on the latest developments regarding the terrible incident that occurred at CFB Wainwright. The Department of National Defence continues to work closely with the Government of Alberta and local authorities. Thank you to first responders, Canadian Armed Forces members, and provincial officials for their efforts. To the families and everyone in Wainwright: Canada stands with you.

this is an excellent source of information on the incident at CFB #WainWright Includes a timeline with citations, confirmed facts with sources, statements circulating that are still speculative, and other useful information such as weather conditions.

I made this news scraper for the CFB Wainwright fire, will update it as I'm able, link won't change Latest: Edmonton hospitals declared a code orange to take patients from Wainwright, whose facilities were overwhelmed, according to an Edmonton emergency physician who spoke to CBC. claude.ai/artifact/C64yLVSst…

Terrible news coming out of CFB #Wainwright. Two STARS air ambulance helicopters just departed. Looks like they are heading to Edmonton. Hoping for the best but early reports from witnesses at the hospital suggest there are many casualties.

This is such revisionist nonsense. Back when I was at the federal cabinet retreat pleading with them to get the international student situation under control (and getting called a racist for my efforts), Alberta was in the media asking for the population to grow *faster*.
The Prime Minister and I have found common ground on many things over the last 18 months. However, it appears that he has yet to fully understand just how damaging the open-border policies of his predecessor were. Those policies caused Canada’s cost of living to skyrocket, overwhelmed our social services, and made homes and jobs unattainable for thousands of young Canadians. That’s why I’m encouraging Albertans to vote ‘yes to the rest’ to give our government a strong mandate to take more control over our immigration system, so that we can prioritize economic migrants, put Albertans first for jobs, and ensure Albertans’ social services are sustainable. We’re also asking for a strong mandate to work with willing provinces to reform the courts, abolish the senate, and protect provincial jurisdiction. I look forward to hearing from Albertans on October 19th.

Harassment has a profound and lasting effect on its victims. There must be no tolerance for harassment in the GoC! The investigation can leave victims deeply unsatisfied and forced to take drastic action to protect their dignity and health. cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.7…

This must have been amazing for someone from Britain to see this in 1840. They had likely never seen such a grand waterfall before or even barely imagine it.
This is the first known photo of Canada. A daguerreotype photo of Niagara Falls taken in 1840 by British businessman Hugh Lee Pattinson. The image was created using the daguerreotype process, an early form of photography that required a long exposure time, estimated to be around 10 to 20 minutes. 🇨🇦

Great speech tonight by PMMC. As an Alberta - someone who grew up in Alberta - Alberta is vital as part of Canada. I encourage my friends to get out and vote.

Michael Wernick expresses a view that I think is valid. The greatest loss may well be that America is no longer a beacon that inspired optimism around the world, and we may all be worse off because of that. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…
