One of the biggest mysteries of the Wow! Signal is its exact location, with two possible positions in the sky. Our #AreciboWow team has solved this mystery using three independent methods. We’ll present our findings in 2027.
We know! 😉

🌍✨ Our Entire World, Seen From the Moon
From the lunar surface, Earth shines like a brilliant blue jewel suspended in the endless darkness of space.
That distant world holds every ocean, every forest, every human life, and every story ever told.
From so far away, our differences disappear, leaving one extraordinary truth: everything we call home exists on that beautiful blue planet.
A breathtaking reminder of just how precious our place in the universe truly is. 🌕💙

Strength matters, even for planets.
A recent simulation gave Theia, the body thought to have hit Earth and formed the Moon, realistic strength. Hot but solid, it made an intact Moon directly. Colder and stronger, it made the classic debris disk.
doi.org/10.3847/2041-8213/ae…

ALT Two panels from a computer simulation of the Moon forming impact, seen from above on a black background with a 50,000 km scale bar in each. Particles are colored by temperature from purple for cooler to bright yellow for hotter. The top panel, labeled Strengthless, shows the glowing proto Earth surrounded by a scattered cloud of debris and a few small clumps. The bottom panel, labeled Strength, shows the glowing proto Earth with much less debris and a single intact, rounded body orbiting off to the upper left.

Also last night, Ship 45 was evicted from MB-2, into the ring yard, where she remains. I expect Ship 44 to be moved to the centre stand, while S43 and S42 should exchange places at Massey's during tonight's transport move, for S42's Static Fire test.

Curiosity just gave us its clearest view yet of Mars’ mysterious wind-carved cliffs.
On Aug 11 (Sol 4982), at 8:30 a.m. Mars time, the rover snapped 6 Mastcam photos to build a stunning panorama — processed without white balance to keep those real Martian morning colors, with blue tones in the foreground.
On the horizon: yardangs. These wind-sculpted crags stretch ∼10 miles across northwest Mount Sharp, the 3-mile-tall mountain Curiosity has been climbing since 2014. The rover just passed 1 km in elevation gain — more than any rover in history.
Why scientists are excited: Mount Sharp’s layers are a time machine to when lakes and streams covered this region billions of years ago. But this yardang layer is weird — different color, tilted layers. Wind alone may not explain it.
Curiosity is driving closer. Soon we’ll get rocks up close — and maybe solve how Mars went from wet to windy.
