Just extraordinary. If someone described Putin as a dictator, would the BBC presenter interject and say "President Putin would deny he is a dictator"

At what point did Israeli govt share its denial with @vicderbyshire? How did Israeli govt know Bernie Sanders was going to call it extremist on @BBCNewsnight. Why are these presenters acting as a genocidal entity’s spokesperson?

Victoria Derbyshire has faced a wave of criticism after defending the Israeli government’s position when Bernie Sanders described it as 'extremist' during an appearance on BBC Newsnight
🗣️'Why are we still doing this?'

It's utterly pathetic the way BBC presenters like Victoria Derbyshire are told by BBC bosses to say to outspoken interviewees like Bernie Sanders things like "President Trump and his family would deny they are corrupt", or "The Israeli Government would deny they are extremist". It's gross over-reaction to Trump libel action against the BBC.

You support a man who was found liable for sexual abuse in court, who was recently accused of rape by a beauty contestant in a House staffer report, and who was allegedly accused of marital rape by his late first wife.

My last post on the Russell Brand trial reached nearly a million people, and my replies were immediately flooded with defenders insisting this was all just a coordinated establishment hit job.
Well, week three just concluded at Southwark Crown Court, and the reality has gotten so much worse for anyone trying to defend him.
For the last three years, Brand hid behind a podcast microphone, carefully rebranding himself as a humble, persecuted spiritual outsider. He even got baptized right after the criminal allegations broke to complete the transformation.
Then he actually had to take the witness stand under oath, and the entire manufactured persona collapsed in real time.
When questioned by his own barrister, Brand put on a loud theatrical performance, throwing around words like "badinage" and "loquacious" to charm the jury.
But the moment the prosecution stood up to cross-examine him, the swagger completely evaporated into long, excruciating spells of dead silence.
The prosecution didn't even need outside witnesses to tear him apart. They simply opened his own 2007 memoir and read his own confessions back to his face.
Jurors had to sit there while the court read passages where Brand explicitly wrote that when he wanted a woman, he would "resolutely remove anything that’s in the way, until I possess the object of my desire."
They read his own captions bragging about pretending to be effeminate specifically so women would lower their guard and let him into their hotel rooms.
Think about that for ten seconds. He put the playbook in writing himself.
As the prosecution pointed out in their closing speech, the jury isn't dealing with a media conspiracy. They are looking at six separate women spanning a ten-year timeline between 1999 and 2009.
They didn't know each other. They have no personal or financial benefit to gain, and endless online abuse to endure, by having to sit in a criminal court to describe being assaulted.
You can build an army of online defenders and hide behind sudden spiritual conversions all you want. But when your own published books describe treating women as objects to be possessed at any cost, the enlightened guru act is completely finished.

I am the Wetherspoons area manager for this pub. I actually decided that England flags and Union Jacks are not allowed in any of our pubs. People should be allowed to drink in peace without having politics shoved down their throat.

Hard to believe there’ll ever again be a contestant on The Traitors quite as self-serving and egotistical as Acaster.

James Acaster being autistic is the worst excuse for ruining the ending to a show I’ve ever heard
That bloke is a grown man who took 40k for 2 weeks “work”. Signed up to a show about lying and then essentially threw his toys out the pram when he had to lie

🚨🎙️Roy Keane on the backlash surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s comments about Chinese leader Mao Zedong:
🗣️“The whole thing is complete nonsense. Absolute nonsense.
Look, let's be completely honest about what’s actually happened here. We’re talking about a joke—a silly internet meme or a bit of banter about Kylian being called a 'dictator'—something that literally hundreds of thousands of people across social media have laughed at, giggled over, and scrolled past every single day. It’s internet culture. It’s harmless, casual commentary.
So why on earth are people suddenly acting like this is some malicious, calculated attack? It’s not like Kylian came out in a formal press conference to seriously mock, degrade, or disrespect anyone. He’s just existing online, having a laugh like anyone else does, and people have completely stripped it out of context to blow it up into a massive, disproportionate geopolitical scandal.
Drawing a line between a historical figure and an entire nation of people isn't complicated. If someone can’t separate political history from a footballer chuckling at a meme made about himself, that’s on them. Chairman Mao is a global historical figure, and people outside China are going to hold views on him. That doesn’t mean Mbappé got out of bed looking to wage war on a billion people.
If this meme was fair game when thousands of random accounts were circulating it for views, it doesn't suddenly become an international incident the second Mbappé laughs along. You can't peddle the joke for months and then feign outrage the moment the lad at the center of it stops being your punchline and joins in. That isn't moral outrage—it’s pure hypocrisy.
And honestly, the whole process isn't fair on Mbappé at all. Imagine making an innocent, self-deprecating joke online, and the next thing you know, you're facing this insane level of international backlash, involving La Liga, government officials, and everything else under the sun. It just goes to show how little it takes to trigger an extreme reaction from China over something so trivial. Flying off the handle like this doesn't represent them well at all—it doesn't reflect the maturity or stature of what a country like that should stand for on the world stage.
At the end of the day, a footballer saw a joke about himself and found it funny. That is literally all that happened. Everything else is just people manufacturing drama because it suits their narrative today. I don’t issue apologies when I’ve done nothing wrong, and he shouldn't either.
If I were in that Madrid dressing room, I’d tell him to pull his socks up, ignore the noise, and put the ball in the back of the net on Saturday. Let them issue all the statements they want—he shouldn't say a single word back."

Hi @JDVance what “attachment” to this land do your Indian immigrant in-laws Radhakrishna Chilukuri and Lakshmi Chilukuri have please? And do you say this racist stuff to their faces or just save it for mainly-white MAGA rallies?
Vance on El-Sayed: We have to understand what happens when our nation gives into these kinds of people with zero attachment to its land or to its history.
What we saw in France, the hatred, the ingratitude, the desire to destroy rather than a desire to build, that exact same cancer that has corrupted El-Sayed.

Just been told about the fascinating appearance of breakfast show star Mike Graham at the wedding reception of Richard Tice and his bride Isabel Oakshott.
Mike arrived late at The Shard at London Bridge and, according to fellow guests, was already over-refreshed.
On Tice beginning his speech Mike fell into a slumber. Tice does have that effect but not normally at the beginning of the oration.
Reform’s No.2 finished on a rousing note and this woke Mike up who then decided the guests should hear his glowing views on Tice and his bride.
So, he grabs the microphone and begins to speak in what some felt was a version of Latin. Very hard to decipher.
David Bull, Reform’s former chairman, thought Mike was lowering the tone of the event - how this was possible with a roomful of politicians, journalists and Rebekah Brooks is hard to divine- and tries to grab the microphone.
Mike fights him off, so in the middle of the room a wrestling match is now going on with Farage telling colleagues ; “Mike’s out of control.”
Difficult for Farage to be too censorious as on occasions he has been in the grip of the grape .
Anyway, a now irritable Mike beats off Mr Bull for the microphone but the effect of his exertions means he’s lost his thread and he lays down the mike.
On reverting to his chair Mike is accosted by another guest displeased by the Latin oration and another bout of physical unpleasantness breaks out.
Then it’s time to leave and for Mike, a matter of hours later, to prepare himself for his enormously successful breakfast show on UK Live.
How he does it all is quite beyond me.
