🇩🇪⚔️”Landsknechtschwert” (Landsknecht Sword) made in Germany ca. 1500-1510
Swords like this were optimized as a secondary weapon for the densely packed fighting of the pike formations.
This sword with its broad short blade was a robust & agile chopper and parrying weapon when fighting in close pike formations. It would have less of a tendency to “snag” or get hung up.
Sword overall length: 64.7 cm Blade width: 6.8 cm
