To be clear, her highly sensible ask was that Abdul condemn a blatantly antisemitic ad. That bar proved too high, and instead he’s lashing (crashing?) out against his primary challenger (willing to support him!) who got 49% of the vote.
NEWS US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign is asking Haley Stevens to stay away from all future campaign events in the closing days of the race. A source tells Politico that his team wants her to stay away “as not to distract from the central issues of the campaign.” Full Story: politi.co/48o7V2H

While some may try to write this off as just how politics works now, ballot-stacking should have no place in our electoral process. Run and win on your merits: your views, your policy ideas, and your accomplishments. By contrast, recruiting candidates to manipulate the field and influence voting outcomes is simply wrong. Alaskans deserve the honest truth from Mary and her campaign—what has been revealed is a pattern of lies and coverups and a culture of deception that belongs nowhere in our elections or among our elected officials.

Whoever wins, I also see the curtains falling on ranked-choice/top-four reforms. Rs are banning them wherever they can, and if they become "oh, that system Dems tried to use to screw with Alaska," even easier to do that.

In addition to incinerating any “authenticity” @MaryPeltola’s ads may have created for her, this puts the Klieg lights on @marceelias as a lawyer. Time for bar complaints against this sleaze artist.

To state the obvious: If the @nytimes *only* wrote stories to help Democrats, they wouldn’t have written this one. My guess is they just guaranteed @DanSullivan_AK re-election. And they devoted a lot of investigative resources to do it.

Mary Peltola is a liar and a fraud. The New York Times exposed her team mocking voters and plotting with national Democrats to confuse them—all while repeatedly denying involvement. nytimes.com/2026/10/28/us/po…

Holy smokes this is a big story.
SCOOP: Democrats have insisted they have nothing to do with the other Dan Sullivan on Alaska's Senate ballot. But aides with the Mary Peltola campaign and DSCC were part of a monthslong secret plan to recruit him to run -- as well as other candidates. nytimes.com/2026/10/28/us/po…

People will say it's easy to stand on business when you've got Wemby money, but Lebron has Lebron money and still did a sports betting deal with Polymarket (as did Eli Manning, Derek Jeter, Sue Bird, etc)
Victor Wembanyama was asked if he would ever sign a deal with a sports betting company: “Absolutely not. Honestly, I think it’s very sad to see some players promote it.”

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Rob Sand took $13 million from the largest privately held chemical company in Iowa. A company busted for dumping nitrogen, ammonia, and even E. coli into the water. That buys a whole lot of silence.

There's a lot of truth in here, as you'd expect from @asymmetricinfo, but there is one more layer: for 30 years, we have allowed only ONE real lender for college tuition, with zero under-writing & ample political pressure to waive even principal payments. Monopoly lending helped create this beast's appetite. If we had instead under-written every college loan based on the potential for the borrower to pay it back, we would not have a lot of useless masters programs & climbing walls & zen rooms in rec centers of middling colleges that have compass directions or denominational labels in their names.
I think the correct formulation is that colleges are in trouble because the wage premium stagnated, but during the lag before people figured that out, colleges increased tuition to the point where expected value declined for marginal students. This led to a proliferation of low value master’s programs, as students vied to differentiate themselves and increase the wage premium, but schools got very good at extracting most of that premium in the form of tuition, and many of those programs were negative NPV. The public now views college as a risk-reward calculation rather than a guarantee of a good job, and that means colleges outside the top elite no longer have anything like the pricing power they enjoyed 15 years ago. The demographic crunch makes that problem even worse. But what makes it existential is that during the boom, many schools assumed cost structures that cannot be sustained in the current climate, but are very difficult to cut because so much of the cost is either in debt/buildings/maintenance/tenured professors—and also because the things that are easiest to cut while maintaining the educational mission are the various amenities that do nothing for education, but attract tuition paying students. You could offer a great education much cheaper by returning college to what it was in my day, when rooms were spartan, meal plan was terrible, the gym was a pit, and there were fewer administrators managing every aspect of student life. Or you could go back to my what it was in my Mother’s Day—no phones in the rooms, truly appalling food, barely any administration at all, and no counseling/student life/centers for this and that. The problem is students would go elsewhere.

This is the same individual who, just hours after the incident, took a bullhorn and declared it a “state-sanctioned execution,” then attacked me last week for calling to end the encampment. You don’t get to ignite the fire and then complain about the smoke.

Madison is spending “hundreds of thousands of dollars” to support an illegal encampment blocking streets, disrupting businesses, and hindering emergency access. They’re providing porta-potties, trash service, and city trucks to sustain it. End this lawlessness.
