We love to demonise African customs, norms, spirituality and religion instead of admitting to our own ignorance and internalised disdain for our very own pre-colonial roots. A thread regarding Rema’s artistry and imagery at this 02 concert.
RAVAGE UPRISING/ My Ancestors bronzes sit in the museum of this very city so I remade mine. Hence, Edo is redefined, the map reshaped, your minds awakened & the mask reborn. Thank you London! 🦇🇬🇧

Men are in my comments crying because I said period products should be free since menstruation isn’t a choice 😭 And they keep replying with: “Food should be free too, hunger isn’t a choice.” Like… yes? 😭 I actually agree.

Society wants Black people to stomach racism with a smile and extend grace to literal racists. Fuck that. Fuck you. Fuck them. Fuck around and find out. They’re killing us and making some of kill ourselves?!? I’m enraged and I’m not playing into respectability politics.

@ Schwarze in Deutschland…
Black people need to accept that we’re moving toward pure, unadulterated racism that can’t be rationalised with. They’d rather see us suffer or dead than see us simply existing, living normally. Nothing matters to them… not your grades, your experience, your work. Even with proof in front of them, they won’t believe it, because they don’t think you deserve it. Yesterday several Black kids posted their A-Level results and suddenly it’s “DEI.” In Britain….where exams are marked blind and DEI has nothing to do with any of it. Even when you work hard, they’ll tell you that you did not.

Patriarchy has never only punished women. It punishes anyone who fails to perform the gender roles it demands. That’s why feminine men are ridiculed. That’s why gay men are attacked for expressing attraction to other men. That’s why bisexual men are stereotyped as predatory, deceitful, or less masculine.

there comes a time when you have to sit w yourself and confront the possibility that you’re not as progressive, liberal, open-minded or understanding as you believe. maybe it’s your upbringing, religion, or community. but at least once, owe yourself an honest look in the mirror.

And all of them are unambiguously dark skinned black men. But when it’s time to follow the same pattern with casting dark skinned black actresses, the grandmother would be black and dark skinned while the daughter and grand-daughter would be light skinned and mixed.

The literacy crisis isn’t that people can’t read the words. It’s that they can’t understand the context, infer meaning, recognise nuance, identify contradictions, or draw logical conclusions from what they’ve read.

It's worth noting how Mbappe has the same number of goals as Norway's Haaland. Haaland has been catapulted to GQ covers. He seems nice as well as talented. Conversely, Mbappe is receiving global racial abuse even from politicians bc anti-Blackness is pervasive the world over.
The racist, dehumanising remarks against @KMbappe by Paraguayan Sen. Celeste Amarilla are despicable, regrettably not isolated. States & sports organisations must prevent acts of racism & discrimination, and ensure independent and effective accountability. Social media must also prevent and address racial discrimination on their platforms. ohchr.org/en/press-releases/…

The average African easily speaks 3-4 languages to varying degrees. Being multilingual is a necessity with multilingual societies and a plethora of different ethnic groups with heir own language, customs and cultures. Families intermarry as well, so a common language is needed.
Watching The Polygamist and South African people be speaking them languages!!

I saw a post on Reddit that said that “The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.” And I don’t think I’ve ever seen AI described so incisively.
