Thanks @frontendnation for having such a great event that featured so many talented speakers and a special thanks to @a_majkic for being such a great host.
Speedometer 3 is out!
What an amazing experience to be part of the journey🚀
Not just a cross-team effort between Chrome Aurora and @v8js, but developed in collaboration with other browser vendors, to deliver an improved benchmark with a larger variety of workloads!
Building a better web is all about teamwork 🤝
We teamed up with other browser vendors to build Speedometer 3, an improved benchmarking tool that measures web performance and helps spot opportunities for improvement.

The next/third-parties library now includes a <GoogleAnalytics> component. This is now the easiest way to include Google Analytics to your @nextjs app.
We have plans to introduce performance enhancements in the coming months, so stay tuned!

afterRender and the developer preview of afterNextRender now support phases in Angular v17.
Phases can be used to schedule work across the entire application and any third parties, minimizing layout thrashing.

In case you missed it, I gave a talk at Next.js Conf where I cover the amazing work my team is doing to make it easier and faster to load third-party libraries in Next.js

Another delightful feature available in Angular v17 is: phases for afterRender and afterNextRender!
Now Angular can optimally schedule callbacks for an application and all of its libraries, minimizing layout thrashing!

Really excited about one of the features I worked on for this release--automated preconnects! Now, when you use NgOptimizedImage, Angular looks for image domains in your code and automatically adds preconnect links, which can improve your LCP score by a lot.

Third-party scripts can heavily impact performance.
@googlechrome is happy to partner with @nextjs & frameworks on smarter ways to load them via new wrapper components 🙏

I've written down some thoughts on ways to improve the performance and developer experience of loading Google tag (gtag.js) and Google Tag Manager in Next.js apps. What if we had convenient utilities for this?
Have thoughts? Suggestions? Please share!

Super excited that we got to backport the new NgOptimizedImage directive to Angular 13! Now these performance optimizations are available to a bigger chunk of the Angular ecosystem:
Are you running Angular v13? Still want to take advantage of the NgOptimizedImage directive?
Chrome Aurora has partnered with Angular to backport the image directive! This gives you access to:
- srcset generation
- fill mode
- loader config options
