There are lots of excellent GCSE English YouTubers: @MrBruffEnglish @DystopiaJunkie @staceyreay @happyteacherhub but I am proud of my Macbeth playlist and Power & Conflict videos. It's a good feeling to reach this milestone:

In a few weeks it'll be 5 years since my debut novel, Powerless, came out. It's hard to believe it's been that long. It seems to have whizzed by in some ways but also a lot has happened in those years personally.

Oracy, literacy, di, reading, writing none of this is new/unlocking the secrets of the universe. What’s key is being armed with a toolkit of approaches, grounded in rich subject knowledge & subject specific strategies, that allow us to engage the children we teach in learning

A lesson can look brilliant. Pupils engaged. Hands up. Tasks completed. But can they remember it six weeks later? Can they apply it independently? Engagement is visible. Learning is harder to see. My latest article: teacherslyceum.com/2026/10/2… #TeachingAndLearning #EduTwitter

Build pupils' schema to help them to make connections with new vocabulary, by using these 4 ideas. We think with words, read them, articulate our ideas in speech and writing. Words are who we are. Find out more about our professional learning impact.wales

Amidst all the discussions about oracy, vocational education, national assessment policy, AI and more, the Carousel team produced a course about How To Give Instructions. Helping real teachers in real classrooms in real schools. 💪💪💪
Spent the first sunday of half term completing the “better instructions” course on carousel. Often low level disruption sparks from teacher instructions, not students deliberately misbehaving, some great takeaways, great course! @adamboxer1 @BenRiceTeach

What advice would you give to someone hoping to secure their next role in SLT? Would any of these give them a better chance - NPQSL or Masters in education leadership.
