J.S. Bach’s Invention No. 13 in A minor, BWV 784, is part of his collection of 15 Inventions (1720 - 1723). Bach originally wrote these pieces to help his eldest son, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, develop his keyboard technique and musical understanding.
The original piece was written for a keyboard instrument, but when performed on the marimba using four mallets, it takes on a different character, with a clear, rounded tone and a natural resonance.
How do you feel about Bach’s music performed on the marimba?

Between 1563 and 1736, Scotland’s Witchcraft Act sent around 2,500 people to their deaths. Most were women. Many “confessed” only after torture.
Most were strangled at the stake, then their bodies were burned so there would be no grave. Today, only one accused witch in all of Scotland has a known grave.
In 2025, the Witches of Scotland campaign registered a tartan in their memory. Black for the history. Gray for the ash. Red for the blood. A white check for the campaign’s three demands: a pardon, an apology and a memorial. And 173 black threads, one for every year the law was in force.
They weren’t witches. They were mothers, daughters, widows and neighbors. Now they’re woven into Scotland’s story for good. 🕯️

In 1958, Philip Anderson asked a strange question:
What happens to an electron moving through a messy, disordered crystal?
His answer won him a Nobel Prize. If the mess is strong enough, the electron's own wave echoes off the bumps and cancels itself out, so it freezes in place even with nothing to stop it.
It took 50 years to watch it happen, when physicists in 2008 saw a cloud of atoms simply stop spreading.

When I was 5, I would curl up in the lap of my dog while I slept. When my mom came in to get me up, my dog growled at her. I never understood why until much later.
I was taken away by the police due to abuse and my dog was protecting me. I spent the next 3 years in several foster homes. I don’t remember much, except the dogs. Every home that had a dog, was the dog that I latched on to. It was the dog that accepted me for who I was when everyone I knew abandoned me.
Later I was adopted. They also had a dog that became my best friend.
As I grew up, I always had a dog by my side. I am now a fully grown adult with children of my own and we all agree, our dog is their favorite sibling and our best kid…lol. This is Grubbs:
He is my emotional support animal. And I need him as much as he needs me. Due to my childhood traumas, I carry tremendous pain and he is the best medicine for me.
When I look back at my life, I can’t say one dog changed my world, rather dogs made my world worth living in. I could never express my gratitude enough. Thank Dog I’m even here today!

When Apple selected a photograph of a glowing cobalt-blue forest pond in Hokkaido as the default wallpaper for Mac computers, millions of people around the world assumed it was an ancient glacial lake.
It is not a natural lake at all. It is an accidental masterpiece created by Japanese volcano defense engineers.
After Mount Tokachi erupted in December 1988, Japan's Ministry of Construction built a series of concrete erosion-control dams along the Biei River to trap deadly volcanic mudflows before they could reach the farming town of Biei below.
Water pooled behind one of the concrete barriers, submerging a grove of Japanese larch and silver birch trees. Then a chemical miracle happened.
Just upstream at Shirahige Falls, underground spring water rich in natural aluminum seeps out of the volcanic cliffs and mixes with the Biei River. That collision creates microscopic colloidal particles of aluminum hydroxide suspended in the water, which scatter short-wavelength sunlight into an electric milky turquoise that shifts shade with every passing cloud.

Last Saturday, I called my son inside for lunch three times.
He ignored me.
So did the three cats standing beside him.
All four were lined up at the garden gate, watching a man unload a van across the street. My son had one hand resting on the orange cat’s back, as though they were discussing whether the man needed help.
Two years ago, those cats fitted together in a shoebox.
I found them behind a storage shed, small enough that I was afraid to pick them up wrong. We looked for their mother, asked around, and eventually brought them home.
My wife was pregnant at the time.
I told her we’d get them through the first few weeks, then find proper homes for them.
She still brings that sentence up.
There were late feeds, little faces to wipe, and towels constantly in the wash. I kept a chart because I couldn’t remember which kitten had eaten and which one was simply shouting again.
By the time anyone offered to take one, I’d started explaining why that particular kitten couldn’t leave the other two.
Eventually, my wife stopped asking when they were going.
Then our son arrived.
The cats watched him from a distance at first. When he started crawling, they moved their naps to places he couldn’t reach.
But once he could walk, something changed.
Wherever he went, there were three cats somewhere nearby.
I thought they were following him because he dropped food.
Then I started noticing what happened whenever there was a noise outside.

WOW! Remember when folks sold their homes and signed up to live on the cruise ship, Villa Vie Odyssey, because it was cheaper to have a live-in, continuous voyage around the world than to own a home? Now they are royally screwed! The company announced they are suspending operations in Cambodia amid steep increases in fuel costs and passengers were asked to disembark in Cambodia! 😳 Their monthly fuel costs increased from $1,800 to as much as $6,000-$8,000! You can thank Donald Trump for HIS illegal, unnecessary and never ending war in Iran. #VoteBlue2026
