The FEC's campaign-finance filing system went dark overnight, a week before the midterms, after what an internal email calls an attempted breach. That's the system that tells the public who's paying for all the political ads flooding your feed right now.
I went into their own code to see what actually happened, and what I found is a lot worse than a system glitch.

This fountain in Poland was built as part of a renewal of Poddębice’s town centre, giving residents and visitors a place to gather, rest and enjoy art.
Officials also wanted a distinctive landmark as the town’s thermal baths brought more tourists.
Poland truly understands the importance of beauty.
The "Prima Ballerina" fountain is located in Kosciuszko Square in the town center of Poddębice, Poland. Unveiled on August 3, 2024, this public installation features three ballerinas standing 2m tall, crafted by Polish sculptor Małgorzata Chodakowska who currently lives in Dresden. Her work lies at the intersection of sculpture and water installations and her portfolio includes projects in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Chodakowska's work is undeniably wonderful!

Are you fed up with escalating prices on gas, groceries, electricity, housing, healthcare while struggling to make ends meet? Are you fed up with an endless war in Iran that Trump illegally started and is costing taxpayers $1-2 billion/day? Are you fed up with all of Trump’s lies and broken campaign promises of lower prices for gas, groceries, healthcare, full release of the Epstein files, end to Ukraine war, no forever wars? Are you fed up with Trump and his family grifting off his Presidency, padding their pockets and increasing their wealth over $3.5 billion? Are you fed up with an old, demented, pathological liar, Malignant Narcissist, pedophile, rapist, vile, disgusting, disgraceful, disrespectful buffoon who doesn’t give a shit about our country or citizens and is an embarrassment to our country and to the office of the Presidency? Are you sick of living in a crazy, chaotic, unsettling, unsafe environment created by a corrupt conman that is in bed with Putin? If you’re fed up, stop complaining, get out and VOTE BLUE! We are only one week away from the election on November 3. OMG, it doesn’t get any juicier than this! Ken Paxton, a scumbag plagued with years of legal challenges and criminal charges including fraud, bribery, abuse of office, being impeached by his own party, might have found his own demise…having a mistress who is a registered Democrat! 🤣 His wife of 38 years who he had 4 children with, filed for divorce based on “biblical grounds,” after Ken had cheated multiple times, the last one being with his lover, Tracy Duhon, a married Christian influencer with seven children! Now, we find she’s a registered Democrat! You folks in Texas can make a change from this disgusting, lying, cheating lowlife criminal like Ken Paxton. If you have any of the morals, values, ethics you proclaim to have, VOTE JAMES TALARICO…he’s an honest man with integrity and respect who will work hard to represent ALL Texans! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Maxwell–Boltzmann distribution.
The air around you is full of tiny molecules, and at room temperature most of them move faster than the speed of sound.
They do not all move at the same speed. A few are slow, most cluster around a typical speed, and a rare few are extremely fast.
In 1860, James Clerk Maxwell worked out how these speeds are distributed. Ludwig Boltzmann later extended the idea.
Here 1,200 beads play the molecules. The faster a bead flies out, the farther it lands, so each slot collects beads of similar speed. Together, the piles trace the Maxwell–Boltzmann curve.

The biggest mistake tourists make in Japan is dragging a fifty-pound suitcase up and down subway stairs.
Watch how Japanese travelers board the bullet train. They walk on with a cup of green tea, a small shoulder bag, and both hands free.
Where is their luggage? It is already in the next city, waiting for them.
In Japan, the system is called Takkyubin, recognizable everywhere by a logo of a mother black cat carrying her kitten gently in her mouth.
When you check out of your hotel in Tokyo at eight in the morning, you hand your heavy suitcase to the front desk, fill out a tiny slip, and pay about twenty dollars. You can even send it straight from the corner convenience store.
Then you spend the entire day wandering through mountain temples or eating street food with nothing on your back.
When you walk into your traditional inn in Kyoto that evening, your suitcase is already standing neatly in your room, wiped clean, with the handle turned toward you.
In fifty years of handling millions of bags a year, lost luggage is virtually unheard of.
A society runs smoothly when you can hand your belongings to a stranger at a convenience store and know they will beat you to your hotel.

A whole year has passed since my cat went missing. We searched everywhere for it and put up posters on social media. At first, we hoped it would return, but our hope gradually faded
We spent so much time and still couldn't find it, and I couldn’t even talk about it.
Then one day, I was going out of the city with my friends when I suddenly spotted a cat that looked just like mine. Seeing its walking style and color made my heart skip a beat. I thought it might be him, so I approached and called out to him.
At first, he hesitated, but when he saw my face, he ran towards me.
I picked him up, and while he was in my arms, I said not to leave me again.
Then we returned home with Leo, and my family was really surprised.
Now Leo doesn't go out anymore; he has seen the world outside, and now he prefers to stay home in peace
