🌲☀️ CaLandBird | Monday Morning Weather Outlook 📍 Frazier Park, California | 5,030 Ft 📅 Monday, November 2, 2026 | 7:14 AM PST GOOD MORNING FROM FRAZIER MOUNTAIN! ☕🩷 What a difference a day makes! After our rainy Halloween weekend, we're starting Monday with drier air, rising temperatures, and some gusty mountain winds. Our weather station is already reporting a peak gust above 20 mph this morning! 🌬️ 📡 CURRENT CONDITIONS 🌡️ Temperature: 47.3°F 🍃 Feels Like: 43.7°F 💧 Humidity: 47% 💧 Dew Point: 28.1°F 🌬️ Wind: NW (309°) at 7.4 mph 💨 Current Gust: 21.2 mph 💨 Peak Gust Today: 21.2 mph 🌡️ Absolute Pressure: 25.10 inHg 🌧️ Rainfall Today: 0.00 inches ☀️ UV Index: 0 ☀️ Solar Radiation: 53.0 W/m² ☀️ MONDAY'S OUTLOOK The National Weather Service is forecasting a much drier and warmer day across Frazier Park. 🌡️ High near 60°F ⛅ Increasing clouds through the day 🌬️ Winds generally becoming east-southeast around 5 mph 🌧️ No rain expected Our station is already experiencing stronger gusts than the general forecast wind speeds, a good reminder that mountain winds can vary considerably by location and terrain. 🌙 MONDAY NIGHT 🌡️ Low near 36°F 🌤️ Partly cloudy skies 🍃 Generally light winds ☀️ LOOKING AHEAD Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 62°F. Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 57°F. The next several days look generally dry, with cool mountain nights and pleasant afternoons. 🌲 MOUNTAIN REMINDER With humidity dropping and winds already gusting above 20 mph, please continue using caution with outdoor flames and anything that could create sparks. And if you're traveling through the Grapevine or our mountain communities, keep an eye out for changing wind conditions. 🚗 Caltrans QuickMap: quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ 🌦️ National Weather Service: weather.gov/hnx/ 📡 FROM OUR LITTLE MOUNTAIN WEATHER STATION Yesterday brought rain and chilly temperatures. This morning, we're watching humidity fall and the winds pick up. That's exactly why we love having our own weather station! Forecasts tell us what could happen. Observations tell us what did happen. 🌲 There is always something to discover, if we never stop looking. Wishing everyone a beautiful, productive Monday from Frazier Mountain! 🩷 @ecowittweather @NWSHanford @CaltransHQ #CaLandBird #CAwx #FrazierPark #FrazierMountain #Grapevine #Lebec #Gorman #PineMountainClub #MountainWeather #WeatherStation #MustLoveDirt #California

And that's a wrap! Another peak season has come to an end. Most park roads are now closed to vehicles as we prepare for the upcoming winter season. Interior roads will open to snowmobiles and snowcoaches on Dec. 15! go.nps.gov/YELLseasons

Lots of factors for the NTSB to sort out, but it is apparent that N722BD flew directly into an intense convective core with rapid vertical growth. The aircraft likely succumbed to rapid icing while also encountering severe turbulence.

For two full days in mid-October, Earth’s most distant machine simply vanished. Sixteen billion miles out, in the cold dark beyond the solar system, Voyager 1’s faint radio whisper stopped arriving. On October 18 and again on the 19th, the giant dishes of NASA’s Deep Space Network pointed themselves at the probe’s expected position and heard nothing. For a spacecraft that has been answering for nearly half a century, the silence was unnerving. Then, on October 20, the signal was simply back. No commands had been sent. No one on Earth had fixed anything. Voyager had repaired itself. Engineers later pieced together what had happened. One set of thrusters—the tiny engines that keep the spacecraft’s big dish pointed precisely at Earth—had shut down. Backup thrusters automatically took over. This is the spacecraft’s built-in “fault protection,” a decades-old safety routine that drops everything non-essential and locks the probe into a stable configuration so ground teams have time to figure out what went wrong. It worked exactly as designed. The exact trigger is still under investigation. “This is the first time we’ve seen the spacecraft do something like this,” said Voyager mission manager Kareem Badaruddin, “but we are also at a point in the mission where we have to expect the unexpected.” The scare came on the heels of a carefully planned victory. In September, engineers executed a high-stakes maneuver they nicknamed the “Big Bang”: they simultaneously powered down three aging heaters and switched on lower-power replacements. Voyager’s electricity comes from the slow decay of plutonium, and it loses about 4 watts every year. Without the swap, the team would have been forced to shut off another science instrument by the summer of 2027. The simultaneous switch was the only way to save power while still keeping critical parts warm enough to function. Launched in 1977, Voyager 1 is now roughly 16 billion miles from home. On November 18 it will cross a quiet but profound milestone: one light-day from Earth. From that moment on, any message sent to the spacecraft will take a full day to arrive, and any reply will take another day to come back. The machine is old. The power is dwindling. The thrusters are cranky. And yet, somewhere in the interstellar dark, Voyager 1 is still listening, still pointing itself home, and still, when it has to, fixing itself.

The European weather model is showing some very heavy rain and higher elevation snowfall potential. Estimates are still all over the place with each run. Confidence in seeing these amounts materialize is low at this time. It is worth keeping a close eye on however.

BREAKING NEWS 🚨: NASA quietly shifted the path of 3I/ATLAS again, moving the predicted flyby of Jupiter just outside a key gravitational boundary. The change came right after astronomers flagged how strangely precise the original path was. The object is also much brighter than NASA’s latest model can explain, forcing them to swap ice for CO₂ in the calculations. If it hits that boundary in March, it won’t be a coincidence... it’ll be a statistical impossibility.
