Abrahamic faiths (Christianity, Islam, Judaism) are apocalyptic faiths. This has been going on for thousands of years.
I'm tired of non-stop doomerism and 'the world is about to end!' stuff in traditional media and social media. My entire life, people have been saying the world is about to end. From 'global warming' to 'the millennium bug' to '2012' to 'climate emergency' to 'deadly global pandemic' to 'nuclear war' to every election being 'existential' to 'AI will kill us all!' If you actually believe this, your #1 priority should be getting right with God. If you don't believe this, your #1 priority should be getting right with God. If the world is REALLY about to end, your social media posts won't prevent it or save anybody.

The only thing that would sway my vote this election is six text messages from an unidentified number during my work day.

That face you make when you read the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius 195 times and build an entire career off promoting stoic philosophy but still don't know what it means or how to apply it to your own life. This is modern intellectualism in a nutshell. All knowledge, no wisdom. Virtue signalling without virtue.

this might be my last normal tweet before biotech goes vertical i'm not a whistleblower. I don't work at Lilly, Novo or any of the big labs but there is a massive shift happening in human biology right now. it's sitting in press releases and almost nobody reads them the last 6 months alone: - a once-daily pill roughly doubled median survival in metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months) - a one-time gene editing infusion cut hereditary angioedema attacks 87%, and 62% of patients stayed attack-free and off all other prevention for 6 months - a one-time gene edit for cholesterol dropped LDL up to 62%, and it held for over a year - a personalized mrna vaccine beat keytruda alone in a 1,137 patient melanoma phase 3 - retatrutide hit ~28% weight loss in a phase 3 - an ai-designed drug entered phase 3 - a pill that regrows hair passed its second phase 3 - an immunotherapy that could let some rectal cancer patients skip surgery, chemo and radiation just got fda approved - a man lived 271 days off dialysis on a pig kidney - human cells were caught passing chromosome-sized chunks of DNA to their neighbors, and it changes how the neighbors behave we are on the verge of an era where the human body is a software problem and the update cycle gets shorter everyday stick around, it's going to get weird bio/acc

I couldn’t agree more.
It’s actually absurd that they churn out new car models, iPhones, laptops, TVs, smartwatches, and headphones every single year. The world doesn’t need this many versions of the same thing. Nobody needs any of this shit.

There's a strange thing that happens online and in real world conversations, where understanding or explaining an idea or phenomenon is interpreted as SUPPORTING it. As a result, people pretend to not understand things, lest they be seen as advocating them.

I don't want to “download the app” to pay for parking. I don't want to “create an account” to see a menu. I don't want to “provide feedback” on a 30-second interaction. I just want to exist in the physical world without a digital leash

Yeah. And then they’ll vote democrat until they’re sold out as well. Then at 29 they’ll vote republican again until they’re sold out again. Then at 31 they’ll vote democrat until they’re sold out again…. Groundhog Day.
If a 25-year-old in 2024 had every incentive to vote Republican… as so many did… That 27-year-old today has every incentive to NOT vote Republican. And it is 100% the fault of Republicans, who controlled every branch of government and broke every promise inside of 2 years.
