one of the easiest policy wins i can imagine for the US is to reform high-skill immigration.
the fact that many of the most talented people in the world want to be here is a hard-won gift; embracing them is the key to keeping it that way.
hard to get this back if we lose it.

How do you spot an idiot? Look for the person who is cruel. The kindest person in the room is often the smartest.

Uvalde families asked the TX Legislature to raise the age to purchase semiautomatic rifles from 18 to 21. The bill wasn't given a hearing until April 19 and they were kept waiting for 12+ hours to testify. The bill is pending in committee; Mon. is the last day it can be advanced.

I’m starting to think that, despite the protestations of my elected officials, all those open carry laws aren’t making Texas a safer state for my family.

This about more than science. These things are getting shoved down our throats because somebody stands to make a lot of money (probably not us). They should not be in the wild.

I think either California or the Treasury Department should backstop Silicon Valley Bank - thousands of companies will fold or lay people off next week because of lack of access to accounts through no fault of their own. Take the equity and fire the managers. But SVB’s clients - many biotech - are important for national innovation and competitiveness. Plus you need to instill trust and reduce financial contagion/panic/further runs.

Our friends at @SVB_Financial have been great partners since the inception of @mercuryfund and they're taking their current challenges very seriously. Kudos for the transparency and pro-active steps to bolster the balance sheet.

I feel bad for Silicon Valley Bank right now.
They have been the biggest capital partner to founders, employees, and investors over the last decade and they’re being completely turned on by all of them.
If SVB goes under it would be detrimental to the startup community

This is such an economically stupid and needlessly cruel policy toward immigrants

This country should bring in 10x more H-1Bs and also make the pathway from H-1B to permanent residency 10x easier

.@POTUS we must extend the 60-day grace period for laid-off H1B visa holders to find another job during this economic downturn
I suggest 6 months
