Rock on, and the DPA is the right way to do it to bypass regulatory overreach from the California government.

China emits as much CO2 in 16 days as Canada emits in an entire year. Australia's annual total takes China just 12 days to emit, while Britain's takes barely 9 days. Combined, Canada, Australia and the UK emit about 1.23 billion tonnes a year. China emits that much in roughly 37 days. So, even if all three countries eliminated every tonne of fossil CO2, closing every factory, power station and banning every gas vehicle, China would replace the entire annual reduction in little more than five weeks. Yet, Western governments are deliberately making energy scarcer and more expensive, by dismantling dependable sources, restricting oil and gas exploration and loading industry with carbon taxes and net zero mandates. Steel, chemicals, fertilizers, refining and manufacturing are driven overseas, often to countries burning more coal. So the emissions do not disappear. Only the jobs, tax revenues and energy security do. The West impoverishes itself. China profits.

PM Mark Carney has confirmed he’s cutting ties with Musk and Starlink and heavily backing a $2.3 billion contract with Telesat Lightspeed. Musk and his mood swings has shown us who he is and we believe him.

Denmark spent decades building nearly 5,000 wind turbines Together, they produced 21.6 TWh in the last 12 months One nuclear plant in Sweden made 23.3 TWh Oh, and nuclear runs 24/7 — wind doesn’t There's one big reason Denmark has some of the most expensive electricity in the world transparency.entsoe.eu/gener… api.energidataservice.dk/dat… eia.gov/electricity/monthly/… iaea.org/publications/16059
Fun fact: Sweden has four nuclear reactors that have each generated more electricity than all Danish wind turbines ever. Forsmark 3 and Oskarshamn 3 started in 1985, the year Denmark banned nuclear. Both still ahead of Denmark’s entire wind fleet.

This story is the most important story happening now. Please pay attention. Do not get baited into foolishness.
🚨🚨THE DEMOCRACY FILES / ILLEGITIMACY PLAYBOOK, PART 5: Washington state's Secretary of State weighs in 🚨 The below clip shows Danielle Reiff of DRG pitching her vision to an audience including Washington state's Secretary of State, Steve Hobbs. She explains the red-line scenarios and ultimately a vision of creating a "cross-partisan" government in the wake of an illegitimate federal government. Her three "democratic emergency" scenarios should be familiar by now: · Election meltdown - which includes a widespread public loss of trust in election results · Insurrection Act deployed against protesters · An attempt to delay seating of legitimately elected officials post-election If the federal government becomes illegitimate in her view because of the above, then she proposes a cross-partisan system of transitional governance. She names a cross-partisan board of governors, as well President Obama and President Bush as potential transitional leaders. WA SoS Hobbs replies to Reiff that he has had the exact same conversation with German and Japanese officials regarding how to deal with AfD and right-wing nationalist parties. Now, to be fair, he does not want to commit because, in his words, "we're winning." But he doesn't disagree either. Note also that here and in other recordings, "election meltdown" does not mean some sort of flashy media crisis. It means, simply, a large segment of the population doesn't believe the election results are legitimate.

"At best, it will go to startups who will flee to the US the very second the money hits At worse, it will just be another slush fund given to friends of the government and I fear its the latter as usual" Is this not the Liberal/Carney way?
Once again the Canadian government FAILS to understand the problem I would know, I founded and ran a tech company for a decade and raised MILLIONS from investors And it was HORRIBLE doing business here Let me explain This isn't a "money issue" This is a regulatory, economic and taxation issue combined with a deep cultural problem Back in 2015 I founded a tech company, using my own money from working in the Alberta oil field We developed our MVP in Montreal and launched our proof of concept right here in the West Island Our first ever investors were our own first clients. We raised $150,000 from them But things got harder when it came time to raise our seed round I met with EVERY SINGLE VC in Montreal. All told us NO Why? Too risky lol... its the very definition of Venture Capital They wanted a pitch deck, projections on 5 years, cashflow, business plan, go-to-market strategy, communication strategy, marketing strategy, Tech reviews, C.V. of founding team, financial disclosure etc We spent more time preparing documents for them than we did scaling our business Worse of all, they all wanted something different and would give contradicting requirements I remember this interaction at the Espace CDPQ, the headquarter for all Venture firms in Montreal ie: Investor: How much do you need Me: $1 Million Investor: So if you only raise $750k what happens? Me: Well we'll adapt XYZ Investor: So then never EVER tell me a fix number. Give me a range. $750K-$1.5M or else you look foolish I went home, reworked the pitch deck The very next day: New investor: How much you need Me: $750K-$1.5M New investor: What... you don't even know your number??? Me: well... yes but what if we raise less or more New Investor: No, you look foolish We said screw it. Approached American Investor Our first was a VC firm out of Houston, Texas Took less than 1 month from initial pitch, to closing. In USD. For more money than what Canadians wanted to offer. Best of all, they understood the fluid nature of a startup. No onerous and rigid plan. No overburdened documentation. Every second wasted on non-operating activities was sucking productive time away from scaling. But Elliot... what about BDC and other AMAZING institutions in Canada We did business with the BDC. a $250,000 loan. Which I had to personally guarantee. Which 25 year old has assets and the balls to guarantee that amount? Very few. It's prohibitive. And reduces capital available to our homegrown companies And this was AFTER MONTHS of explaining to them what we were doing. It was clear the BDC was setup to support traditional brick-and-mortar companies only. Think Manufacturers or Commerces. But a tech startup? They could NOT wrap their heads around it. Canadian banks? Forget it. Outright. Too risky Then I watch fellow startups do the same. And move to the US. Why wouldn't they? In Quebec, I had to pay an extra 15% on top of my payroll as taxes. QPIP, QPP, FSS, CNESST... all to satisfy the government non-stop appetite. Consequences: Well for a startup where every dollar counts, this means lower salaries thus harder to attract top talent (vs American competitors) or I simply hired less staff... thus slowly growth for both my company and the country's economy. But wait it gets worse. Revenue Quebec and CRA both required a plethora of compliance documents filled monthly or quarterly. GST and QST tax fillings, CNESST Salary equity (yes lol) documents, Source deduction documents, RL-1 fillings, Income tax (both QC and CAN), Workplace sexual harassment policy, OQLF policy, CNESST training and certification... the list goes on At least 1 day a month was spent by me and some of my executives preparing and fulfilling these documents. This means we were't scaling our business and instead working for FREE for the government. Then there is the tax burden. Why would top talent want to come here and get taxed at up to 52% marginal rate? While a Miami startup offers higher salary and the State taxes you 0% Finally investor behaviour In Canada... safe. steady return. Great for a Series C. Great for an established companies. No desire for risk. No understanding of the ecosystem. HORRIBLE FOR VENTURE Meanwhile the U.S. , they understand the ecosystem. 90% of their investment will go down to 0. But the few that survive will go on to earn them BILLIONS and change the world. So this new announcement of $1.75Billion won't change the underlying issue that makes us uncompetitive. At best, it will go to startups who will flee to the US the very second the money hits At worse, it will just be another slush fund given to friends of the government and I fear its the latter as usual

Extreme cold related deaths are responsible for 1.1M deaths in tropical (warm) Africa. Heat related deaths stand at just 36k. Extreme heat/cold is not the culprit. It's moderate most of the times. Nevertheless, cold is more dangerous than heat- 9 times globally.
Extreme heat is putting pregnant women, newborns and children at growing risk. New UN guidance will help countries track these risks, strengthen preparedness and take action to protect those most vulnerable to heat. Details from @WHO: who.int/news/item/21-10-2026…

My report makes six key recommendations: Fix the broken understanding of how the gas market works. Policymakers should recognise that British gas production is not sold on global markets at a global price. The GB gas market uses marginal pricing and additional domestic production displaces more expensive LNG imports, thereby reducing British gas prices. The report argues that claims that additional UK production cannot affect domestic prices are simply wrong. Increase UK Continental Shelf gas production. Domestic gas should be preferred to imports wherever possible. UKCS gas is both cheaper and cleaner than imported LNG and provides a secure source of supply directly connected to the British gas network. Reduce reliance on electricity imports. Britain is increasingly depending on electricity imports during periods of low domestic renewable generation. However, highly correlated weather patterns mean low wind generation in Britain can coincide with shortages elsewhere. The report warns that Norway and France cannot be assumed to provide unlimited electricity to their neighbours during periods of stress. Model gas and electricity security together. The gas grid transports far more energy than the electricity network. Electrifying heating will take decades while gas-fired generation will remain critical to electricity security for years to come. The report argues that planning should recognise the interdependencies of gas and electricity to a greater extent. Focus on cheap energy. Rapidly rising network costs are overtaking fuel costs as the main driver of energy bills. The report calls for tighter control of network expenditure and for the suspension of the Connect & Manage regime, arguing that consumers should not be required to fund expensive infrastructure whose output is frequently constrained or wasted. Treat energy security as national security. The government should subject energy policy to an explicit national-security test, prioritising resilience, diversity of supply, sufficient domestic energy capacity and the preservation of strategically important industrial capability alongside affordability and sustainability. watt-logic.com/wp-content/up…

Experienced trade lawyer Mark Warner (Ontario gov negotiator on company deals + prior Stelco work) just exposed to CBC’s Andrew Nichol the parts Minister Joly’s framing skips On Joly’s demand letter and “binding commitments”: “I have difficulty reconciling the way she characterizes… with my experience… Truth is somewhere in the middle… to say they don’t have a defense is a little ridiculous.” On the supposed pledge to push for tariff-free US access: “I can’t imagine anyone agreeing to anything like that.” Company is instead arguing for Fortress North America against cheap foreign steel (⅔ of Canada’s market) Context ignored: deal done pre-Trump win/tariff war; Carney walked away from talks; PM now in Turkey (a source of those imports) discussing free trade; Americans’ point is Canada undercuts US prices while filling its own market with foreign steel On Joly’s “no act of God or market change can relieve them”: “She’s an advocate and a judge will decide… She doesn’t get to decide that.” Warner’s take: get back to the table and stop the theater. Mark’s the one who’s actually negotiated these agreements. Joly isn’t @MAAWLAW @melaniejoly

I’m a Canadian who loves Starlink. In fact, on our rural property, there were no Canadian providers who could provide us with internet due to the location/tree coverage. So we applied for Starlink on the trial when it first launched. Best thing we ever did for the farm. All of the neighbours now have it as well, and it literally connected everyone with no service for decades to full bars and the ability to call on wifi/check the news and weather online for literally the first time. I think it’s disgraceful that the Canadian government is trying to score political points and villainize such an effective product made by a Canadian citizen. Thanks @elonmusk for how much your product improved our quality of life.

The £3trn of debt is a claim on the future output of goods and services from the UK economy. All require energy. How's that going to work out with plunging total energy and electricity production and consumption? This is a real and growing threat to National Security.
Britain’s national debt has climbed above £3tn for the first time, underlining the pressure on the public finances before John Healey’s maiden Budget next week 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/business/202…
