The Ra-Gya Jigme Gyaltsen Grassland (Tsathang) Girls’ School in Golok, Amdo, was among at least three Tibetan schools forcibly closed by Chinese authorities between August–September 2026.
Established to expand educational opportunities for girls from nomadic communities, the school provided instruction in Tibetan language, Buddhist philosophy, science, traditional medicine, and other subjects.
The latest closures of the schools further demonstrates the shrinking space for independent Tibetan language education.

In a highly unusual alert, it strongly advises everyone involved in UK academia to cut ties with this company – or risk criminal charges under national security legislation.
