My new book 'From Soviet Bouquets To Shed Banners - Chelsea In Europe 1945-1971' is out.
It covers Chelsea's incident-strewn European adventures from Moscow Dynamo 80 years ago to Athens triumph in 1971.

"You can stick your new stadium up your arse" sing the United support.
Reinforcing the point that the performance of the team is the most important thing for match-going supporters.
Watching the two Spurs goals on MOTD they seemed even worse than they did live. If you were being kind you could say that Pender's error was one of those things. The second goal was worse, the collective lack of will to tackle/block Tel an utter embarrassment.

Frank Blunstone, 92 last week, was at yesterday's game. Lifelong supporter @Barrett01Robert met him last week and gave him a collection of cuttings I collated from across his career. These are reproduced here in a post on the @cfc_heritage website.
It was an absolute pleasure to help @Barrett01Robert source cuttings for Frank Blunstone to mark his 92nd birthday.
Frank, the oldest living England international, was a member of Drake's 54/55 title winners & Doc's 62/3 promotion team.
Among the cuttings I found were these :-
What a pleasure to catch up today with the great Frankie Blunstone. Will be at the game tomorrow as guest of @ChelseaFC Thanks to @tim_rolls for all his help in sourcing newspaper cuttings including details of Frank’s debuts for Crewe, Chelsea and England, wonderful stuff we could have talked for days, what a career and that’s only half of it #Cfcfamily

Happy 92nd birthday to the wonderful Frankie Blunstone 🎂🎉🥳I spoke to Frank yesterday and he was in marvellous form. The club have invited him down to the game next week which Frank is looking forward to particularly as he told me “on his debut for the Club he scored the winning goal against them back in 1953!” @ChelseaFC @1JamesCHELSEA @eddiemacbawa @tim_rolls @onlyapound @MartinKnight_ #Cfcfamily
Off on my first away outside London of the season. Tough game ahead, here's hoping Chelsea play a lot better at The HD stadium than they did last season

Neil Warnock says that during his Burton Albion days, he hit a proper crisis just before kick-off: his star striker, Stewart Mell, was nowhere to be seen and the teamsheet was already in.
His fix? Send one of the lads into a toilet cubicle with his shorts down and orders to sound like he was on his way out. “Heave like you’ve never heaved in your life,” Warnock told him, “and no matter what anybody says, don’t open the door whatever you do.”
Off he went to the referee looking heartbroken, explaining that Mell had “come down with food poisoning” and was “puking in the toilet,” so probably couldn't start.
“I’m sure their lot won’t mind,” Warnock said, “because he’s my best player.”
A linesman was sent along to check. Warnock coughed on the way in, and from behind the door came: “Euggggggegh… euggggesssh…”
It was so convincing Warnock reckoned the kid sounded like he was genuinely dying. He looked at the linesman: “That’s how bad he is.”
The linesman walked off impressed, and the ref allowed a late reshuffle with Mell on the bench “if he recovered sufficiently.”
Five minutes before kick-off, mid team talk, in runs Stewart Mell. Still dressed in his fireman's uniform.
“Gaffer, I’m terribly sorry,” he said, “there were two accidents, I ran over a dog…”
Warnock's response: “Just get changed.”
Then it was back to the ref's door, this time playing the honest man.
“Listen, ref,” he said, “I’ve decided it’s just not fair. It’s not fair on Wootton. I put Stewart Mell on my teamsheet in the first place so I’d rather start him.”
The ref even thanked him for it. “It’s very good of you.”
And Warnock, straight-faced: “Think nothing of it.”

Fairly predictable choices to anyone who has listened to me droning on about music, though tbh I could easily have chosen nine different eg Sparks, Jam, Teardrop Explodes, Pixies

Request: If you see or hear MCFC current / former employees (especially players and managers) giving pro-City views on the "115" case, pls tweet me examples / links as I research whether they have paid deals with City to do so, for example as paid ambassadors for the club. Thanks

If you want to know more about @pitchowners or have any questions, then pop along to this event and talk to CPO directors.
There is a significant amount of ill-informed misinformation on social media about CPO. Go along and find out the truth.

Thinking of the late #Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Bonetti who was born on this day in 1941.
Here is something I wrote about Peter for my blog in 2023 to remember him.

Busy football day ahead. @OfficialShots v Tamworth followed by a doubtless fraught train/tube journey to Wembley for @England v Spain.
Probably less half-and-half scarves at the former...
