New political identity quiz just dropped 👀searchlightinstitute.org/pol…
I miss Pennsylvania having a senior senator who cared about electing Democrats.
Bucks County Dems are fired up and showing up to flip the PA state senate and expand the PA House Dems’ majority so @JoshShapiroPA can get more shit done to make lives better, lower costs, and have Harrisburg work for people, not billionaires and corporate lobbyists.
I really do find the whole “let’s have a sit down intra-factional debate” thing sorta unproductive usually because it pits figures who really have no interest in learning from a respective faction against each other.
It’s particularly frustrating amongst the Democratic coalition because no faction is remotely big enough to win an election.
There is no “winning” in this debate. There is only coexistence.
I really loved this conversation with @hecubian_devil specifically because it wasn’t a debate. It was game recognizing game. youtu.be/dfK2RrlQHl0?is=s279…
Channeling my inner low information voter by not remotely trying to understand dc’s foie gras ballot initiative and voting specifically based on the vibes of proponents and opponents.
Having a former mayor of Atlanta as governor could be huge for MARTA. No reason why MARTA couldn’t become a world class transit system in the not so distant future.
“surrender monkeys” is a new one for Elmo.
But while I have you, the people who build clean energy—you know, the stuff that actually leads to decarbonization and fewer emissions—are backing this bill bigly.
Don’t surrender to inaction. Pass BAJAA!

The sense of precarity is real and voters are looking to Democrats for solutions. It’s a chance for the party to get back to first principles, and they should take it!

Grim irony of Dems/trans people is that Dems have stuck to their guns on trans issues to a remarkable degree, and trans people are a 95%+ Dem voting/donating/volunteering bloc, yet both Dems & trans people are convinced the other is betraying them because of online discourse.
Got our final poll of the cycle back @TheArgumentMag.
I've just never seen the bottom fall out *this badly* for a party before. There is nothing — and I mean *nothing* — good for Republicans in this one. It might well be our ugliest one yet for them.

The way Hasan Piker and other media millionaires have built their platforms by telling people in my isolated and anxious community that their only allies are Maoist revolutionaries makes my blood boil.
Trans voter to @AOC: Trans people in America feel like they've been abandoned by the Democratic Party, that we are a losing issue, that it's not worth defending us. What do you say to that?

it was an 8-1 vote to no longer let buildings get blocked because they cast a shadow.
the sole vote bravely defending blocking new homes that throw shade? you guessed it, conservative NIMBY Connie Chan.
The SHADE Act has been passed into law today by Mayor Lurie!
Over the past 10 years, over 2000 units of housing have been blocked or delayed because NIMBYs said the housing would cast a "shadow".
So we're done letting red tape cast shade over our housing future. The SHADE Act will no longer allow shadows be used as a basis for environmental appeals. It will save between 3-9 months on some environmental reviews and up to $25,000 per project in reduced staff, consultant, and administrative costs.
We can protect our parks, respect our environment, and welcome more neighbors. We don’t have to choose. It’s time to let housing projects see the light of day.
Thank you to all those who helped turn this into law. My cosponsors Matt Dorsey, Danny Sauter, and Myrna Melgar. My legislative aide Raynell Cooper, all the incredible members of the Planning Department including Lisa Gibson, Lisa Gluckstein, Ryan Shum,Kei Zushi, Tania Sheyer, Debra Dwyer, members of the Mayors Office including Ned Segal and Adam Thongsavat, and our drafting attorney Andrea Ruiz-Esquide.
It's an unbelievably scary and dangerous time to be trans in this country right now, and while it's true that a handful of Democratic candidates in more conservative areas are engaging in rhetoric that's not productive, the party remains resolutely committed to the civil rights and dignity of trans people. That's simply not in question.
I think it's really important for Democratic leaders to correct this record when given the opportunity to engage with this specific community.

Republicans are on defense in a big way.
Just look at where Trump is campaigning.
And I have jumped feet first into the Anacostia with an anvil tied to my ankle 🥰
