He says "parents deserve control", but his proposal is "government as parent."

CAPCOM has confirmed a major data breach affecting more than 11.7 million CAPCOM ID accounts worldwide.
The leaked data includes:
-Email addresses
-IP addresses
-Account activity
-Account creation and login information
In 43 cases, additional personal details were exposed, including dates of birth, gender, country/region and nicknames.
CAPCOM also found that 196 accounts had their passwords changed by someone else.
The good news is that CAPCOM says passwords themselves were not leaked, and no credit card information was affected.

An update from Brewster Kahle on today's outage.

ALT Internet Archive ops staff were heroes last night. PHP vulnerability announced, soon saw attacks, isolated the vulnerability, used Claude to make fixes for our older php versions, used local models to run simulated attacks, deployed. reinforced WAF and other guards. Offline briefly, Back on new versions and running! Given the severity, there are heroes in many many orgs from last night. Could have been no lights, no traffic signals, real problems. Heroes. Thank you all.
Archive.org is currently offline. We are working to restore service now.

By your own logic, you are infringing on their copyright, and you should be copyright struck and banned off of "The YouTube." The hypocrisy is insane

Idaho Senator Kevin Cook published an op-ed saying he is planning to sponsor Meta's App Store Accountability Act in the 2027 legislative session.
He seems to be under the impression the bill has something to do with "adult content graphic material" when it does not.
The App Store Accountability Act is a de facto digital ID. It will force every Idahoan to provide ID age verification just to download apps from the app stores. Not just children...everyone!! The bill also requires verified parent-child linking. That means MORE personal data to prove that you are the adult legally responsible for the child.
This nonsense about "put parents back in the driver's seat" is a blatant lie. Parents can already control app downloads on their child's device without having to surrender personal data.

The state of Florida, which is led by @GovRonDeSantis and has @AGJamesUthmeier as AG, is trying to single-handidly kill the 1st Amendment.
Discord told users it doesn’t look at their messages, calls, or other content when sorting accounts by age. Florida is now suing Discord because it doesn’t look at their messages, calls, or other content. The complaint objects that Discord’s filters only scan images and videos and leave text, voice, and calls untouched.
It lists voice and video channels as an unfair practice. It wants ID checks before users can be seen or share anything.
The state is seeking up to $150,000 per violation and a court order to make it happen.
Florida calls this child safety but it's a demand that nobody on Discord gets to have a private conversation again.

I don't agree with the porn ban. I actually think it's going to cause more issues down the line. As far as I'm concerned, as long as it's two consenting adults, their sex life should be up to them.

lots of extremely simple-minded, naïve and puritanical fools showing up around this news... it's not progressive to support a government deciding what is or isn’t obscene, even if you don't like it

if you’re gonna be an anti-porn freak on the internet please for the love of god read the entirety of the legislation that you proudly defend
anyone who's cheering on banning slightly weird porn need to take a step back and realise this is just testing the waters for a complete ban.
somehow a lot of my generation think this is a good thing? this WILL result in LGBTQIA+ media being censored. it has been said for years!
The British government is banning pornography that includes depictions of choking, incest & adults roleplaying as children.
The ban goes into place from November 6th.
