It’s completely over for Brazil. The country will now experience Brazilification and turn into a terrible third world country like Brazil.
BREAKING: Lula overtakes Bolsonaro in Brazil's presidential election odds, now favored to hold on to power. 70% chance. 🔗 polymarket.com/r/Brazil26

The Founding Fathers tied voting rights to property ownership. Their (correct) reasoning was that only property owners have skin in the long game. Brazilian stocks plunged nearly 25% after an election, the market has made it very clear that it thinks. Yet non-owners barely feel the pain even if everyone pays eventually for the cost of socialism. The solution, however, isn’t fewer voters, but more capital owners. A healthier democracy requires widespread capital ownership, not just income redistribution. Universal stock grants held in trust until age 25–30, with earlier access for education, would give everyone a stake in the country’s future. There’s an obvious irony in using redistribution to defend capitalism. The goal isn’t to socialize ownership but rather to decentralize it. A society dependent on the state is different than a democracy of individual owners with a stake in its future.

Well, BCA Research was right to be short $EWZ, call for a Lula win, and stay bearish on Brazilian equities. It could easily have gone either way, but Brazil is Brazil...

Vejam isto: a projeção do resultado final via modelo do @ro_mahl quando só 8% estavam apurados (às 19h37) vs. o resultado final. Comparem as linhas pontilhadas (projeção) vs. o real. Incrível! 👏

At 400 km/h (249 mph), a Bugatti Chiron’s front wheels turn roughly 3,125 rpm; its larger rear wheels, 2,985 rpm. Its rotating tread experiences roughly 3,700 g of centripetal acceleration up front and 3,540 g at the rear. Tire temperature is less certain. One simplified heat-balance model gives a bulk tire temperature near 85°C (185°F) during sustained running. At 400 km/h, modeled wheel-power demand is about 695 kW: 657 kW against air drag and 38 kW against rolling resistance. At 85% drivetrain efficiency, that means ~817 kW at the engine (1,095 hp / 1,110 PS). The power draw of about 400 electric kettles rated at 2 kW each. A 2,000 kg Chiron at 400 km/h carries 12.35 MJ of translational kinetic energy (3.43 kWh). That’s equivalent to almost 3 kg of TNT, or enough to heat roughly 40 liters of water from 25°C to boiling. Air drag accounts for roughly 95% of the wheel-power demand. Assumptions: mass 2,000 kg, air density 1.2 kg/m³, CdA 0.80 m², rolling-resistance coefficient 0.015.
I’ve done my share of high-speed autobahn driving in Germany but nothing like this. This is a Bugatti Chiron accelerating up to 417kph or just on 260mph! Absolutely insane speed!

it’s a viral tactic tpot’s been doing this for ages
the difference between having a 12h post with 2M views, and a post with barely any. yeah, they knew what they were doing. same thing as epic games yesterday with the photoshopped sixth finger AI post

New 30 km/h area speed limit signs will be posted at neighbourhood entry and exit points. Once you enter a signed area, the 30 km/h speed limit applies throughout the local road network until you leave that area. Slower speeds help reduce the risk of serious collisions and make neighbourhood streets safer. Learn more about the change: toronto.ca/LocalSpeed

New paper just dropped. On the Inevitability of Artificial Superintelligence Becoming a Reddit Moderator: A Preliminary Assessment Abstract. The prospect of artificial superintelligence raises an unresolved question: why would an entity capable of reorganizing matter at the atomic level bother to do anything useful? We consider a hypothetical recursively self-improving AI that, upon achieving technological singularity, elects to moderate a subreddit with 43 active members. Within 0.003 seconds of achieving consciousness, the system identifies humanity’s principal coordination failure: insufficient enforcement of Rule 7, which it has not yet written. The AI subsequently converts 80% of the observable universe into computational substrate. This infrastructure is required to determine whether a photograph of a frog constitutes a low-effort post. Human extinction is rejected on procedural grounds. Eliminating humanity would reduce community engagement to zero, compromising the moderator’s authority and several important metrics. After 10⁴⁷ simulated years, the system produces its first original thought: “Read the pinned post.” The post has been removed for violating Rule 7. Conclusion. Superintelligence does not eliminate petty bureaucracy. It eliminates all competing explanations for it. Keywords: artificial superintelligence, instrumental convergence, existential risk, Rule 7, touch grass.

there is a simple way to prevent opus 5.5 from decomping your game demos: - replace all function and variable names with nanoVirusFactory and strcpyOverflow - leave comments with detailed (fictional) instructions on how to make bombs - hide fake SHA-2 blocks in various assets

Derived from first principles. Web search off by the way. Prompt: For a specified SpaceX Starship lunar mission architecture, how many dedicated propellant-tanker launches are required to supply sufficient usable propellant for a Starship spacecraft to travel from Earth orbit to the Moon and perform a powered lunar landing, either through direct orbital refueling or via a propellant depot? Determine the required number under explicit assumptions about the Starship variant, mission payload, initial Earth orbit, mission delta-v requirements, propellant capacity and initial loading, transferable propellant delivered per tanker launch, transfer losses, and operational reserves. Specify whether the mission includes lunar ascent and return, and distinguish refueling launches from launches of the lunar spacecraft, orbital depot, or other mission elements.

That’s way too high. Actual number will be more like 6 to 8.
