🇨🇦 Canada just published its draft stablecoin rules (Canada Gazette, Oct 24).
What's in them:
✅ Non-bank issuers must register with the Bank of Canada
✅ 1:1 reserves in safe, short-term assets
✅ Pay holders back at full value within 3 business days, fees capped at 1%
🚫 No interest or yield just for holding a stablecoin (rewards for using it are OK)
This is a proposal, not law yet. 60-day comment period, with a target start in fall 2027.

The @The_DTCC Tokenization Service, which @Ripple "Prime" is among the 50+ firms helping prepare, launches this month with @CantonNetwork as one of the 2 live chains (public ones) alongside DTCC’s private "Besu Network", issuing tokens under Canton’s CIP-56 standard.
It issues 1:1 digital twins of eligible securities that stay custodied at DTC starting with 25 from Russell 1000 stocks, ETFs, and Treasuries.
Roughly $30 trillion of the $114 trillion DTC holds is eligible!
This enables 24/7 peer-to-peer transfers between registered wallets for faster settlement and more efficient collateral moves.
Remember Folks: Limited production trades already ran on Canton and Besu in July. 😉
Separately, "Ripple Custody" added support for Canton Coin canton-network:native as well as CIP-56 tokens in early October! I DID NOT know this!!
So...institutions can hold and transfer these assets under existing custody policies, though this is infrastructure support rather than Ripple Prime solely settling the full DTCC flow on Canton.
canton-network:native will be the biggest beneficiary of handling these flows...😎
