This part. Many of the most iconic artists of all time would have been dropped in this day and age, because they didn't score a major hit right out of the gate. It's not just about the labels and A&Rs assisting with development (which is important) but also simply about giving artists the time to refine their sound and connect more meaningfully with their audiences. Folks aren't making long term bets - but that's how you build empires.
