A statistic that sounds fake but isn't: Not one single white American man born after 1984 has published a work of literary fiction in The New Yorker.
It's not because they stopped writing. It's because The New Yorker has refused to publish them. The publishing industry has blacked out a generation of male writers & then they wonder why boys don't read.
About 70% of publishing professionals are women.
Because agents and editors tend to select books they personally relate to, an increasing number of male authors are being sidelined in the publishing industry, resulting in an overwhelming number of female protagonists on our shelves—and a dearth of male ones.
No wonder young men are no longer reading.

By the same token, Europe does not have a veto over Russian security.
Putin does not have a veto over European security.
Any agreement to end the war must prevent Russia from re-arming and re-attacking.
This is why earlier this year, I put forward a paper with core demands towards Moscow, which was discussed by EU Foreign Ministers. This should be the basis for any negotiations.

In Victoria, 5-year-olds can opt out of singing the anthem on “religious and cultural” grounds but not gender lessons teaching them they can be born with the wrong body parts and boys who identify as girls must be allowed on their sports teams. Wild.

I was just teaching my students about this measurement yesterday. Such a clever approach.
The first measurement showing light has a finite speed.
In this paper from 1676 Ole Rømer proved that light doesn't travel instantly using Jupiter's moon Io as a clock in the sky.
Io is eclipsed by Jupiter's shadow about every 42.5 hours. When Earth is moving away from Jupiter, the eclipses show up late. When Earth is moving toward Jupiter, they show up early.
The light carrying the news of each eclipse has a different distance to cover, so it reaches us at a different time.
The delay per orbit is only about 15 seconds, too small to measure with the clocks of the time, but it adds up: over about 40 orbits it reaches several minutes. Rømer estimated light takes about 22 minutes to cross Earth's orbit.
Rømer predicted that the eclipse of 9 November 1676 would come 10 minutes late, and it did.

Meet Benjamin Jones aka “Lisa Jones” or “Willow”.
Benjamin, an Australian man, was convinced in Germany of sexually abusing a 6 year old girl and imprisoned there for 6 years. He was then deported to Australia. He was placed on the AU child sex offender registry.
When he returned to Australia, he started claiming to be a woman (in 2018) and started taking hormones.
In 2021, he attacked a woman in a Melbourne alleyway, in broad daylight. The attack was so brazen, it made national news, but his gender identity was never mentioned by media.
He was convinced and sentenced to prison. In court, he used “she/her” pronouns. He was placed in Victoria’s Dame Phylis Frost Correctional Center, a woman’s prison. Terrified of him, the women inmates managed to get this information to outside the prison gates.
In 2022, Australian women including Women’s Forum Australia, Stassja Frei & myself, contacted Victorian politicians, the Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission and the AHRC about Jones being in a women’s Prison.

While the politicians ignored it, the response from the VEOHRC said amongst other deflections, “The Commission considers that Corrections Victoria’s policy for the management of prisoners who are trans, gender diverse or intersex provides a framework for prisoner placement decisions that is grounded in human rights principles.”
He stayed in the women’s prison.
By 2024, he was back on Australian streets. Sydney, specially. He stalked, threatened and attempted the rape a woman. Currently in a *men’s* prison, he is eligible for parole in 3 weeks.
We all know what will happen next.
Benjamin Jones showcases exactly why “gender identity” does not work in society. Why all laws on the basis of gender identity should be abolished.
A predatory, repeat attempted rapist, used “gender identity” to be placed in a woman’s prison. He was either ignored or defended by the government and institutions.
When he is released, under current Australian law, he can enter any woman only space he wants.
