Bruno Fernandes asked if the tactics were wrong tonight vs Como: "It's on the manager and the staff to see, not me."

#mufc’s predicted XI against Como. What are your thoughts?

#mufc's absentees for Como game: • Ayden Heaven - ill • Lisandro Martinez - out and possibly for the weekend) • Kobbie Mainoo - 10 days • Luke Shaw - bit longer than that • Leny Yoro - suspended • Patrick Dorgu - hamstring • Manuel Ugarte - knee • Marcus Rashford - hip niggle • Benjamin Sesko - shin [@hirstclass]

Erik Ten Hag on Cristiano Ronaldo: "He let the team down, and he let me down, because we planned with him" "I flew out to Portugal to speak with him about what I was aiming for before I came to United. Obviously, he’s one of the best in football history. I respected him a lot. But at that time, as a manager, I had to make a rational decision and keep the players I admire in.” According to Ten Hag, Ronaldo pulled out of training sessions, did not get his heart rate raised to the required level when he did train, and only completed two of the three scheduled laps of the infamous run Ten Hag made his players do after they lost 4-0 at Brentford in August 2022. "I confronted him with this,” says Ten Hag. “Many times I say, ‘Ronnie, everyone wants to work for you to bring you in the right position, but if you can’t bring yourself in the box, you can’t score’. He was not capable to do this. It’s the wrong idea to put this to me that I expected him to do the pressing, that he’s exhausted. But he couldn’t. He ran neither in possession nor out of possession. The reason was because he didn’t prepare himself. "Every top team has to embrace the top player, but the top player has to work for the team." "He was telling the players, ‘Save your legs at the training’. I understand it when you are top fit; you have sessions, you can save the legs. But first you have to train yourself to get into the right fitness levels." [@lauriewhitwell]

Erik Ten Hag: "They [#mufc] are continuing the toxic culture; they fuel it, they give the power to the players," [@lauriewhitwell]

Michael Carrick: "It felt like a fresh start today, where we're at, accepting it and doing something about it. There was a real purpose to the group the last couple of days and they took it out onto the pitch."

Michael Carrick: "The squad today was in a fantastic place. The best that I've seen in a while."

Breaking: Lisandro Martinez on Instagram:

The referee gave this a red card. Thoughts ?

Behind the scenes, Jason Wilcox is not afraid of butting heads. A well-placed source said he was “out of order” during the infamous January meeting with Ruben Amorim that eventually led to the Portuguese engineering his own sacking. Another source described the summit as “horrendous”. #mufc sources said Wilcox was entitled to question Amorim and that he was his “biggest supporter”. Amorim was incensed that Wilcox referred to himself as “the manager” to staff at Carrington. Some agency figures like Wilcox. Others say he can be “stubborn and egotistical”. Few at Southampton shed tears when Wilcox departed after 15 months [@samuelluckhurst]

#mufc could take action against Lisandro Martínez. Sources say it is inevitable that Martinez will be fined for his behaviour [@lauriewhitwell]

Lisandro Martinez: "For me we don't have the best squad at the moment compared with other top teams… I’m not going to close my mouth, I expect more ambition." [@CBSSportsGolazo]

Amad via Snapchat: “F*****g disgrace; I have no words.”

Michael Carrick responds after Lisandro Martinez's comments: "Sometimes it can be a little bit emotional" [@primevideosport]

Wayne Rooney on Lisandro Martínez: "His performances haven't been good enough, but I think in some ways he's right in terms of the club needing to invest more at the top end of the pitch and the defence. But I think it looks like it was a bit of an agenda and he wanted to say that because it doesn't reflect the performance I thought the performance was better" [@primevideosport]
